My research connects our American branch to siblings who left Kilcooley in the 1840s-mid 1850s. Their parents were Thomas Fitzgerald and Mary Murphy. I was able to find baptism records for their children James (1811), Mary (1813), Johanna (1816), (Maurice (1819), John (1823) and Michael (1827). I believe they had a brother Patrick born sometime around 1816-1818 but I found no record for him and he is the one of the siblings I am most interested in. I was recently told of a possible connection to a Mike Fitzgerald who died in Kilcooley in 1957 leaving a daughter Sheila and a sister Bridget. The house and land were sold and Sheila, who was a nurse, moved to England. Bridget was elderly and has since passed. My understanding is that Sheila was the last of that branch of Fitzgeralds in Kilcooley. Since I am at a point where I am stuck tracing anything else in the 1800's, I would like to try to make the link to family that remained in Ireland. If anyone can give me some ideas or knows of this family, I'd love to hear from you Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The 1900 census said Mary was born in March 1837 & on the 1910 census, she was 73. Mary had borne fourteen children and had thirteen living in 1900. Census said Patrick was born in March 1831, but his death record, 1903, said he was 67, son of Patrick FITZGERALD & Bridget FOLEY. Mary was daughter of Ellen HOGAN & Den[n]is CROTTY, b. 20 Jan. 1796, Waterford, IRL, m. bef. 1826. Ancestry family tree said Denis was born in Waterford but dau. Mary was born in Northern Ireland. Cemetery says Margaret was born 1856, which agrees with the Northampton, MA, record of age 22 at marriage, but her census age usually ended in 2, which agrees with her age of 20 on the W.
