Uplshire Co is adjacent to Titus Co Texas where my family was located. As I said I haven't actively worked my files in over a year and I don't have time to now. I will send you a copy of this folder I found in the Mt Pleasant, Titus Co, Texas library (The Fitzgeralds from Tennessee to Texas), if you want it, for whatever it cost to print it at Kinkos and mail it. The folder is a102 pages and was put together by Beth Gunn in 1976. I don't agree with all of it but her dates ect that I've had time to verify have been correct. If you can connect to them, I have more information that I've collected on some of the people listed. I would also like to add you and your kin to my files. This is one of several letters in that folder. a letter from Hiram to Emaline dated 1/7/1864 My dier wife: It is with pleasure that I take the opportunity of writing to you one time more to inform you that I am still alive yet but not in good health. I think my Uncle Bill (William Fitzgerald) was probably born in Chicago or Michigan. But I know he was married before. Once to a Betty Osborne. They had a son, but I never knew his name, or where he was born. Then he was married to Jeanette Randall (that's the one whose nickname was Chick), and they had a son named Scott. Does any of this fall into place? I'm copying this to my cousin, Don Brosseau, the family historian. My g-grandfather, Richard Joseph (RJ) FitzGerald was in Rochester MN by the mid-1860's & was farming in Dublin Township, Swift Co MN in 1877. Per his naturalization, he arrived in Quebec in June 1854 - my best estimate is that he was born in 1842 or 1843. Father's name may have been John. He told a grandson that his mother died, his dad married again, and soon thereafter, RJ left his father's home. We are sure the family lived in Vermont. After Vermont, the family may have moved to Marietta, and then to Ashtabula OH. In 1891, RJ was expanding his farm and obtained an $800 mortgage loan from "Henry Fairbanks as treasurer of Fairbanks Education Board and in trust for the same" of the "Town of St. Johnsburg" and in the County of Caledonia, State of Vermont. Henry Fairbanks was the son of one of the three brothers who founded St. Johnsburg Academy and also, the E & T Fairbanks Co which was known for manufacturing scales and other implements. Both located in St. Johnsburg VT. At this time, Henry was a Congregational minister and also corporate secretery of E & T Fairbanks Co. A Patrick Fitzgerald was employed by E & T Fairbanks Co in 1893 - the 1895-96 St. Johnsburg city directory db at ancestry.com has a Patrick listed, no occupation, spouse Marguerite. Unless the St Johnsburg Academy was investing by granting mortgage loans to Catholic farmers in the west, this Patrick looks like a possible link to RJ's birthfamily - to his parents and siblings. I am looking for John FitzGerald in VT in 1854-1860 and possibly as early as1850, any Fitzgerald with a son Richard aged abt 16-18 years in VT in 1860, and info on Fitzgeralds in Caledonia County, especially St Johnsburg and specifically the Patrick & Marguerite Fitzgerald family. Hello all, I am looking for the ancestors/descendants of Anna Fitzgerald b. Aug 1837 Ireland, she lived 18 Carlton Avenue, Bklyn with Madeline Toner, (my grandmother) b.Aug. 1889 and her son James Fitzgerald b. Feb. 1875 in NY. James was a bookkeeper. Anna also had a daughter (Madeline's mother) Mary E. Fitzgerald dob/dod unknown. Any additional info greatly appreciated. Thanks so much, Janet
Hello Listers and a Happy New Year I am trying to find out more abt my GGrandfather Sir Charles John Oswald FITZGERALD (dob unknown) married in India (?) one Edith BRAY who bore him a son Oswald Arthur Gerald ( b 8 July 1875) and a daughter Nora Geraldine (b 1883) - who was my Grandmother. Edith Bray died in India age 26 persumably not long after Nora Geraldine's birth otherwise she would have been very young when she produced Oswald. Charles Fitzgerald then married his 2nd cousin the Lady Alice Fitzgerald who was the sister of Gerald the 5th Duke of Leinster. Lady Alice was always regarded as "a fearsome lady". She died,I think, in 1944. I have photo albums of the Leinster family home Carton House, Kildare, Ireland. Charles Fitzgerald was knighted (KCMG) for political services and lived in Eastbourne Sussex. for many years. He died in 1912 and is buried in Ocklynge Cemetery in Eastbourne Sussex. His son Oswald - my great uncle Ozzie - had a dinguished military career and was for many years Military Secretary to Lord Kitchener. He died with Lord Kitchener when HMS Hampshire hit a mine off the Orkneys en route to Russia on 5 June 1916. He is also buried in Ocklynge Cemetery. Any information on this part of the FITZGERALD family would be very welcome Peter Fitzgerald May in a lovely hot Pretoria South Africa
Quinn: My ggrand father was living in Chicago when his parents (no names) were killed in the fire of 1871. His name was John J. FitzGerald, so we may have a common relative. We have pretty much skipped generations. His daughter, Nel FitzGerald Stoddard was born in 1889, my mother, Jane Ellen Stoddard Hull was born in l915 and I was born in 1951. John J. Fitz married Frances Smith in April of 1887 when they lived in Reno, NV. Good Luck, Sid Freeman

I've learned a little more about my Fitzgerald lineage since I posted a request a couple of weeks ago. So I thought I'd update my information, in case any of these names ring a bell. My great grandfather was Patrick Fitzgerald, born in Ireland. My grandfather was William Patrick Fitzgerald, born in Ohio in 1868 and died 3-15-29 in east Gary, Indiana, of either influenza or diphtheria. He married Emma Pflughaupt 1-25-05 in Three Oaks, Berrien County, Michigan. They lived in New Buffalo, Michigan, and he worked for the railroad. They had four children, William Robert Fitzgerald, Kathryn Lucille Fitzgerald Fox, Marguerite Marie Fitzgerald Brosseau, and Norman William Patrick Fitzgerald (my father), all now deceased. My father was born in New Buffalo, Michigan, December 24, 1905, and was married four times. The first wife was named Evelyn O'Boyle and the second was named Maxine Hluzek. I believe they were married in either Illinois or Michigan. He had three sons from those two unions. I don't know if those sons were adopted by subsequent husbands and changed surnames, but they were born Robert James Fitzgerald, Norman Joseph Fitzgerald and Ronald (middle name unknown) Fitzgerald. I'm guessing at birth dates between 1925 and 1935. I am trying to track them down. The third wife was named Clara Zeisch. They had no children. My uncle, William Robert Fitzgerald, had two sons by two wives, Betty Osborne and Jeanette"Chick" Randall (who later married a man named Shoup, we think). I only know the name of one son, Scott "Scotty" Fitzgerald. If any of these names are part of your lineage, please contact me.
