Hi Mary, Saw your post on the Fitzgerald list and thought I would take a shot in the dark.  Just signed on to the list and haven't posted yet..just starting to research this line for my spouse.  We're looking for connections to James Fitzgerald, b. Apr 1828 (his granddaughter wrote in Dungarvon). He came to US in Mar 1849, spending 2 years in Massachusetts and moving on to Tazewell Co, IL where he married Ellen O'Connell in 1857.  They moved on to the Kansas City, KS area abt 1860 and had 10 children along the way.  (Mary, Honora, Thomas, James, Patrick, Maurice, Michael, Edward, Joseph)  We also have an 1890's photo of an elderly couple..written on the back is "Thos. and Mary Fitzgerald, parents of Maurice Franklin Fitzgerald of San Antonio, TX"  If we have any connection, this would be just too, too easy.  Haven't gotten far enough in to know if James came to US with family or not.  These common names are really a challenge.  What do you think? I am looking for sibling of Bridget Carey b. 1827, and Alice Carey and b. 1840 in Co. Tipperary Ireland to William and Catherine Nagle. Bridget emigrated to the US in 1849 and married Anthony Carroll and settled in Green Co. Wi. I am sure there were other children that I don't know of due to the age span between the two girls. I also looking for the the parents of William and Michael Fitzgerald who emigrated in 1859 and 1867, settling in Rock Co. Wi. William married Elizabeth Beard and Michael never married. To my knowledge there was no connection between the two families. Haven't been able to figure out why either family came to Wi. to settle except they were all farmers. Have been wandering if there were previous family member that came to the area.
