    3. >Hello Listers, This is my first post so forgive me if this has been asked before (although I did check the archives first). I am looking for info on the FITZGERALDS' of Troy NY. My GGrandmother was Mary Bridget FITZGERALD who was born in 1865. Her daughter's wedding certificate indicated that she was born in Ireland; however I tend to take these types of info with the proverbial grain as I have found that they are usually only 50% correct. I wou8ld love to hear from anyone researching the FITZGERALD's from the Troy area. Jay -- Jay _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? William is my great-grandfather. The family thought he came to LA on the Orphan Train. I wrote the orphanages in New York, but they had no listing of him. I now understand why! Was the another avenue to transport children (other than the train), or where the "Lalonde's" related to the Fitzgeralds? Please advise. Betsy

Classification: Queries Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/1cW.2ACIB/1020.1 Message Board Post: Sandra, William Fitzgerald and Celise Bergeron are my great grandparents. The family was under the impression he arrived in St. Landry Parish on the Orphan Train. Your information clears things up. I was in Grandcoteau and Carrencro, LA a few years back and spoke with a priest in one of those locations. I can't remember which location of the two he said William was buried, but we were unable to locate a grave marker. Consequently, the Leonville information is of interest to me. Were you able to located a death certificate? If so, I would be interested in getting a copy. Would be interested to know if the "Lalondes" were related to the Fitzgeralds, or was this another avenue being used to send the orphans out of New York. Also, do you have the name of the cemetery in Leonville? Betsy Looking forward to hearing from you! Betsy

    1. Martha Alice and Henry W. FitzGerald, County Cork
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: FitzGerald, Johnson Classification: Queries Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/1cW.2ACIB/1090 Message Board Post: Martha Alice and Henry W. were siblings. Henry W. was born 22 Sept 1822, County Cork; Marthe Alice was born about 1834. They had a brother, probably William, born about 1824, who moved to Canada. Henry followed his brother to Canada and migrated to Tenneesse. Along the way he met and married Sarah W. Bill, born in Oct of 1831 and married about 1850. Martha Alice married a Sgt. John William Ruddick, who was killed in the charge of the Light Brigade in 1854, soon after their only son was born. My only clues to the idenity of the parents of Henry, William?, and Martha Alice are in the names of their children. William John Ruddick, named his oldest daughters Alice Fitzgerald, Ella Fitzgerald, and Martha Fitzgerald; he named his oldest son, John Fitzgerald. Henry named his oldest daughters, Alice Maria, Emma Burnham, and Rose; he named his oldest son Henry Beaumont. The youngest daughter was named her mother and paternal grandmother: Sarah Davis FitzGerald. According to family tra! dition the Davis could have the Welsh spelling, Davies. Henry W. appears to have been the oldest son and his father may have been William Henry FitzGerald. If Henry W. had a sister other than Martha Alice, she may have married a Henry Johnson, or a John Johnson. One child of Henry W. died on a visit to Selma, AL, and was buried in the John Johnson family plot. I would appreciate any input you have, or any suggestions. Eddie Ruddick

    2. Thanks for your reply. I married Diane (actually Patricia Diane) in '97. Until recently we had no clue of her life except that she was born in New Castle county, Delaware and the name of Diane's father (which escapes me). Please give us a call at (703) 644-2912. Evenings (after 6PM are usually best to find Diane home. She would be the individual with whom you should speak. Thanks, Rany.
