Inquiry was made of him as to the status of the difficulty between Bishop Bonacum of Nebraska and Fathers Murphy and Fitzgerald who had threatened to appeal to Washington unless the bishop withdrew certain accusations he had made in dismissing them. In response to the inquiry Monsignore Satolli sent word that the case was not one which he would discuss publicly, further than to say that the diocese was in a very bad condition and the priests were in an unfortunate position. Does anyone have any idea where the name could of originated from? ALSO I have traced my family as far back as 1800 as being in India, but who was the first Fitzgerald to go to India, remains a mystery! Harold Fitzgerald appears in 1820 with his wife Eliza as Indigo Planters in Bihar India. I believe I found Mary on an 1860 census without Timothy in Somerville, Mass. Some of their children may have been John, Michael, Mary (married William Foley), Patrick, Timothy, Edward (married Nellie Fleming), and Elizabeth (married James Shea). All their children were born in Ireland. John is my 2nd great grandfather, born about 1826. He married Kate ___. They lived in Somerville where their children were also born~ Mary, Margaret, Timothy J, Catherine, Edmund, and Elizabeth. Timothy J (born 1865, Somerville Mass) married Jennie Adams. Their children were Catherine, Margaret (married Eugene Reigel), John J, Agnes, Frances Mary (married Maurice Sawyer), Jennie (married Herbert Weber), and E J. Does any of this sound familiar? I have been looking for my grt grt grandfather, Timothy Fitzgerald who was born Ireland in 1784-86. His father was Redmond Fitzgerald (according to his 2nd marriage certificate in Swansea in 1865) I have often wondered if Timothy was his nickname as I have only found him in Ewwb Vale/ Abervale, Mons. Wales in 1841 Census with 2 little daughters and no wife and through all the Censuses of Swansea Wales until his death in 1872, also in Swansea. I found a Michael Fitzgerald...no dates given but before 1700, in the Pierce Family Tree and he was the father of a number of sons one of whom was Redmond but no further info about Redmonds family sadly. Any connections with your family? Kind regards, Mary Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I live in Tralee and Catherine Fitzgerald daughter of John Fitzgerald was my grandmother. I have in my possession a complete Fitzgerald family Tralee which was given to an aunt of mine apparently by a Brother Fitzgerald of St kevins college Oamaru, who was a cousin back in 1975 when on holiday from New Zealand. It outlines all the Fitzgerald families and their children grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. It states that John Fitzgerald who married Catherine Slattery of Oakpark first went to NZ in 1868 where he was joined by David in 1870 and Nicholas and William in in 1874. He saw David married in Jan 1875, Nicholas engaged and William also provided for before returning to Tralee to wed himself. I am very sure that this is the same family you write about and perhaps we could exchange more information? You can reach me on lurigo50@gmail.com. Regards, Joni. ?cousin!!!! Author: SeposFitz Surnames: Fitzgerald/Fitzgarrald Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.fitzgerald/2429.1.1.1.1.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Helen, There are a lot of Fitz cousins trying to figure out all the George's in our trees! Glad to see your post here. I am descended through George Fitzgerald 1775 md. Anna Butler who is bur. in Linn County, Iowa. This may be the family that you are referring to as in the mid-west. We are trying to prove our lineage back to your George b. 1739 VA. - but are not finding any listings with him having our George. b. 1775. The year works in with the list of his other children - but he is not recorded as son. Do you have that your George Fitz 1739 is bur. in Hamilton Co., Illinois? We are trying to figure this out right now with a cousin going to the Farm Cemetery - in shambles - and putting information together. Her father told her that buried there was George Fitz the Rev. War soldier. This would have to be George of 1739 because our George was b. 1775. Lots of puzzle pieces but maybe we can all work together and straighten it out. I would really be interested in seeing what! had been submitted to the DAR. We spoke to a cousin many years ago who said that her Mother had submitted some information - but where did she get the proof is what we would like to know. Would love to hear back from you. Thank you for the research you have done in proving your line. Carolyn & Garlan Fitzgarrald Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
