    3. I hate to get into this cutting and deleting. I was told long ago by a business that if I wanted to get information regarding a message to include it with the reply. That is the only way that they know that they are answering the proper email. Now there are lots of people on here who are new (as I was when I was informed about the reply) and they are just replying to the message. They do this because they were told to reply to Fisher to have their messages go out to the rest of the Fisher geneology people. They are just trying to find their heirs and in doing so at times, they give information that was not previously known regarding a Fisher or other line. It is a small matter for you when you reply to one of the long emails to just delete it if you know how. You don't have to read it, since you have already seen what was posted previously, but it is very small to try to require all to know what you know and berate them for doing something they know no differently. Thank all of you for your help and God bless you. Charlie The problem we have is when a large number of people become involved in a topic, and each one is simply hitting the reply button and typing in their own message. *What is the big deal?* _________________________________________________________________ Help STOP SPAM: Try the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail

    3. Obviously a reply thread CAN get out of hand. If there is a message that sparks a lot of interest and there is a flurry of responses and responses to responses you can end up with quite a long message. HOWEVER, please bear in mind that these are, for the most part, text messages we are dealing with here. The filesize of these messages, even with a bunch of threading, is still small. They don't take a long time to download, they don't eat up a lot of bandwidth (which few if any of us are probably paying additional charges for, anyway). The worst that can be said about them is that they can be a pain to pick through and scroll through because of the number of lines involved. My suggestion is that we try to keep down the number of quoted lines in our replies, when and if possible. We should make polite suggestions to those who are new and explain to them how to delete the unnecessary parts of quoted messages and, last but not least, if we are annoyed by a message because it contains too much of thread, we simply delete the message from our own computers and forget about it. Personally, I have gained a LOT from this email list. Remember that some of the people here may have just joined the list and haven't been able to follow the earlier messages and, just maybe, one of those quoted threads will help them out with their research.
