OBITUARY---- James Marvin Fisher who was born in Towanda, PA, March 7, 1832, died in West Liberty, Iowa, July 24, 1900, at the ripe old age of 68 years, 7 months, and 17 days. He was the son of Frederck and Dolly Fisher. He received a better education than the average man of his day and was analytical in his approach to his problems. In 1854, he married Miss (Nancy) Matilda Moore of Alleganey County, NY, who preceded him in death almost two years ago. To them were born eight children; Mrs Laura Rock and Fred L., of West Liberty; John M. of Eagle Grove, Iowa; Willis Waldo, who died in infancy; Mrs. Stella Haurigan of Fremont, Nebraska; Mrs. Harriet Aikens of West Liberty; Gertrude McGowan of Houston, Texas, and Louisa Henderson of Davenport, Iowa. He is survived by two sister and three brothers; namely Helen A. Lyons, Isabel Adams, George W. and Fred W., all of Bradford County, Pennsylvania, and Charles Orlando of Wayne, Nebraska. In 1856 he moved from Monroeton, Pennsylvania, Bradf! ord County to Muscatine County, Iowa, which place had since been his home except for three years spent in Texas. He was one of our old citizens, a member of the Mason's Fraternity, and blessed with a large circle of friends. The funeral services were held from the Christian Church, July, Thursday, the 26th, under the direction of the Pastor. The Masons attended in a body and closed the funeral exercises at the grave with their burial services. Interment was in Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty in the Fisher Plot, and beside his wife, Nancy Matilda Moore Fisher. Source: Obituary, The Iowa Index, West Liberty, Iowa
