My Schilling was Nicholas, brother of Caspar. They both came to Dakota County, MN, in the mid 1800's from Germany. Both were stone masons. Caspar and family remained in MN, but Nicholas moved about to Iowa; Calhoun County, IL; and St. Louis where my great grandfather, Joseph Nicholas Schilling, ended up. They also had family in Venice, St. Clair Co, IL. Do you see any possible connections? It was interesting to find Schillings among my Fisher searches! My Fishers are English rather than German.
