Many of the people in that area named Fish changed their name to Fisher, probably thinking they were going to spare the kids a childhood of being called "Fish":) I can testify that did not work:) My Fish line goes back to the 3 brothers that were part of the founders of Sandwich Mass. Fish Sandwich. Funny stuff huh? So...I watch the Fisher forum for any Fisher's that connect to Mass and tip them off that they may find their line changes to Fish. I have not worked the Fisher line in Mass but it seems to me that if one is a Fisher with Southern Mass roots odds are it will turn into Fish. If its the Fisher line from Dedham Mass I've followed that one back to a founding Fisher in the mid 1650's. How far back have you got your Fisher line? Best regards, John R.
