    1. Re: [FISHER] Fisher family
    2. The Fishers of the person whose DNA matched my husband's have an Albert and Alfred, who were possibly twins. They were in Mississippi around 1830 (grown) and then in Arkansas. Our feeling is that their family and ours came to Mississippi from North Carolina. The oldest known Fisher in my husband's family, Joseph Fisher, said on the 1850 census for Van Zandt Co., TX that he was born in Shiry Co., NC. There was no Shiry Co., but there was a Surry Co., and there were definitely Fishers there. Sue In a message dated 12/11/2007 9:21:28 P.M. I think this is the other Rev. George W. Fisher that lived in Shelby County, but not sure. I haven't been able to find anymore information on this particular couple. I need to make a trip back out there but the genealogy library is only open two hours on the days they are open and it doesn't give one much time to look. Thank you for finding this for me. I appreciate it more than you know. As I said in an earlier post, I have an elderly cousin in very poor health who has been so interested over the years in helping me find our Fisher Family history. He let me submit his DNA for the Fisher study. I so want discover our history past knowing that Rev. George W. Fisher was born 1808-1810 in Kentucky. 3. What year was your Joseph Fisher born? Surry County, NC is right on the Virginia border. My father always maintained that our Fishers came from Virginia originally.
