    1. Re: [FISHER] Fisher family
    2. I found a Rev George W Fisher marrying a Francis M Travis on 6-10-1856 in Shelby Ill.? Could your Nancy have died? dj -----Original Message----- From: Chris Thiessen <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Sat, 8 Dec 2007 7:51 pm Subject: [FISHER] Fisher family Just a note on my Fisher Family. I did discover last summer that my Rev. George W. Fisher was married to Nancy Hibler-Simmons in 1834 in Shelbyville, Illinois. She was there visiting a sister and her physician husband. George must have been living in Shelbyville at that time. After their marriage they lived in Shelbyville for a couple of years then moved to St. Louis County where Nancy's parents Samuel & Rebecca Hibler lived. They lived in St. Louis County from 1836 until the late 1840's. They moved back to Shelbyville, Illinois and George W. Fisher was involved in starting one of the first schools there. I lose track of them after 1854 until George W. Fisher is living with his son Samuel in St. Louis County in 1870. Rev. George W. & Nancy Fisher named their children Samuel M., Martha Ellen, Louisa and Julia. Rev. George W. Fisher was affiliated with the Methodist Church. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? 3. Yes, that is a possibility. I think this is the other Rev. George W. Fisher that lived in Shelby County, but not sure. I haven't been able to find anymore information on this particular couple. I need to make a trip back out there but the genealogy library is only open two hours on the days they are open and it doesn't give one much time to look. Thank you for finding this for me. I appreciate it more than you know. As I said in an earlier post, I have an elderly cousin in very poor health who has been so interested over the years in helping me find our Fisher Family history. He let me submit his DNA for the Fisher study. I so want discover our history past knowing that Rev. George W. Fisher was born 1808-1810 in Kentucky.
