Sue, Yes I did get his DNA results back and it showed we were Haplogroup J1. This Haplogroup is mostly from the Middle East. We do not match with most Fishers. Now I have photos of Rev. George W. Fisher, his son Samuel M. Fisher, his son George Nicholas Fisher, his sons John (my cousin's father and George Frederick (my father) and they all look so much alike there can be no possibility of a "non parental event" in any generation since 1808-1810. My father always maintained our Fishers were from Germany, used to have money and horses. He thought they came to Virginia and the name of the furthest he could remember was Luther. This sounds sort of like the Germana Fishers but I have not been able to connect to this Fisher family either. My father never heard of a genealogist and was just passing on information he had been given by his father and grandfather. Now Middle Eastern traders did move up into Europe a long time ago so it would be possible I guess. What a mystery. Do you have DNA results for your Fisher line? If so I would love to compare. This is so interesting.? I have sent in my DNA and my brother sent in his so we can get some info.? My Fishers were German, for sure, Hava a taufschein from 1782 from PA.? Part of the Palantine migration, we think.?
