His father was Josiah R. or J.R. Fisher of Savannah who died in 1859 that led to the breakup of this family. His mother, Elizabeth Fisher could not afford to support her whole family. Josiah was living with his elder sister, Sarah D. Masters in Lake City, Columbia Co., Florida. He married to Sarah Elizabeth (Puncheater) Harrison of Alachua County, Fla.
