I can agree with the choice of pickpocket vs pastry cook -pickpockets would be more interesting (and leave an easier trail to follow). I love your photo of Harriet Borrodell - much clearer than the photo I have. She looks so young! I have been lucky in making contact with various Fisher descendants recently. You may know that Connies older brother, Arthur Henry Fisher, was quite a well known archetect, and was married twice. He was divorced from his first wife in 1902 and had 3 children from this marriage (the first one Ivy being born in NZ). His second marriage produced 1 child (a daughter Dumel) and her son Roger has recently been in contact (he is in South Australia). Obviously Harriet B Fisher, being my direct line, has been easier to track....but a name like Fisher is....challenging!! Thank goodness George was a Butcher, not a labourer (much easier to locate someone with a common name when they have a less common occupation!). I do have hopes of getting further - though it might be difficult if they stay in London (and George's younger brother was born in the City of London, so it's likely George was too). The Borrodell and Edward family's are much easier to track and they are Essex based. Both were farming families of some substance since 200 acres was a lot in England at that time. Harriet's father also was a miller, so I guess this might have been the way Harriet met Henry. I have the Edward link back to the early 17th century (from memory). Your Connie was quite the 'wild child' from what Kath Hooker said. Apparently,sShe had her first child 'out of wedlock', and Mr Phillips was only pursuaded to marry her when the Fisher brothers told him that Connie was an heiress (a total con! since the family's money seems to have been exhausted by this time!). I have a photo of the whole family group taken [I believe]just before they left England...do you have this one? If not would you like a scan?? I am in Greensborough, just down the road from Balwyn, an area I'm quite familiar with as we lived for several years in Balwyn Rd, and my brothers went to Camberwell Grammer in Mont Albert Rd. We went to Chatham Primary school in Surrey Hills. I see from your tree that Kath Hooker died this year. I had breen trying to find her for a few years off and on, since she had moved from the Allenby Rd address some time ago. I had thought she might have died years ago... bit disappointing I wasn't able to touch base again. If you are unable to get full access to my tree (I am still uploading details, since I was unaware it pretty much empty until a couple of weeks ago)just let me know. I have a photo of Henry Fisher there too. Once again great to hear from yoi.
