Fisher, 1825-1896, buried in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril, Van Buren Co., IA and Ellen F. Fisher, also buried there, who may have been his daughter. This may be the Ellen Fisher who was the wife of Isaac Miller. The birth and death dates are correct for our Ellen Fisher (1853-1886), but if this is her it raises the question of why she was buried as Ellen Fisher and not Ellen Fisher Miller? Is she buried in a Fisher family plot? Further information on our line: Ellen Fisher m. Isaac Miller in Van Buren Co., IA in Jan. 1876. Four boys were born to them: Charles in Aug. 1876 in Iowa, Ed, 1878 in Kansas, Frank 1881, Benjamin Thomas 1882 in Cantril. Isaac Miller apparently left the boys in Cantril with relatives after the death of Ellen, moved to Lincoln Co., MO, remarried there in 1889, then came to reclaim the boys and move them to Lincoln Co., MO. According to family history, little Ben was scared of his dad, not knowing who he was after so many years absence. I feel pretty confident that the Ellen Fisher buried in Maple Grove is our Ellen as no grave site, death certificate or record of her death exists in Missouri where Isaac and the boys lived out their lives and are buried. If you can shed any light on this little mystery or have any more information on this family, I would love to hear from you.
