Fisher, 89, of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully November 15, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born April 14, 1921 in Elm Grove, West Virginia (Ohio County) to the late Albert and Sarah (Buchanan) Fisher. Bill was also preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Ruth "Bette" Fisher; children, Polly (Dominic) Policaro, William A. (Patricia) Fisher II., Mary Beth (Charles) Eason; grand-children, Gina and Lisa Policaro, Heather Powers, Nickalous Freeman and great-grandson, Karson Powers. Bill was a proud US Army Veteran. He fought in the Artillery Battalion in France and Germany during WWII. Following his service Bill worked for General Motors for 37 years. He was a member of Parkview United Methodist Church. He was also a 59 year Mason with the Westgate Masonic Lodge, member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge #11. Bill was an auxiliary policeman for Columbus for 25 years. Bill enjoyed working in the yard and woodworking but his main love in life was his family. Bill was a true gentleman. Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 2010 at the SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad, Columbus, Ohio. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, November 19, 2010 at Parkview United Methodist Church, 344 Algonquin Ave., Columbus, Ohio with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Denise Turpin will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkview United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
