Fisher. or J. James Fisher AKA Jesse James, (used James or J. J. on legal forms) born 25 Dec. 1884 in Canada; died 16 Nov 1927 Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida. Married Barbara Josephine Malone (he used name James Fisher on marriage record) 31 Jan 1877 in Baldwin County Alabama. The U.S. Censuses state James was born in Canada and both parents born in Canada. He came to the Baldwin, Al area to work in the logging industry. The 1880 census states occupation as "drives logs". *Family lore states that he and several brothers (names unknown) were in the bicycle, buggy repair business, in French Canada and they were French Canadian. He became the foreman of a sawmill in Florida. It is unknown what became of the brother or brothers who came with him to the U.S. There doesn't seem to be an immigration record of him. The children of this union were, James A(ndrew). 1879; William H. 1880-1905, known to be the favorite son, asked to be buried next to him upon his death; Charlotte Fisher 1883; Catherine, 1886; Daniel, 1889; Mary 1891. My father said the children were named after his family, and that James was his fathers or grandfather's name. Charlotte and Daniel are two names that appear in our Sunday, McCurdy, Malone lines. The James Fisher s/o George, on the 1851 Quebec census is not the one. Many thanks for any efforts. Gwen Mann Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
