Chris, I've thought about it but shied away thinking I might find I was adopted out of an orphanage or worse yet, from some wandering tribe in the desert. Actually, I've read some of the technical facts and the level of research for these projects is so low (to keep the cost low and the profit high) it only shows conclusively if I were middle European only. The genome used is so wide as to not be very definitive unless, of course, I were to draw out a sample over the grave of one of my CT Fishers. How about you, cousin-maybe? Jim My maiden name was Fisher and I had a grandfather by the name of George Fisher but he lived in Missouri his entire life and died in 1941 at the age of 79. I had a cousin tested and discovered that we are not Fishers! Don't know what we are-we have no matches and do not match any Fisher line, but hopefully some day we will have a match. I have photos of my father, grandfather, great-grandfather and 2nd gt-grandfather and they all look enough alike that I don't suspect any non parental event before when 2nd gt grandfather George W. Fisher was born in 1808. I have had several other cousins tested in other lines and we have had some success. I have had my own DNA tested. I don't think there is anything to be concerned about having it done. So what if you are adopted? You are still you. Back hundreds of years ago orphans were taken in by neighboring families and raised as their own. Who knows? I think DNA is the most reliable way of discovering "who" you are!! Good luck in your search!
