Hugh Dunn was born March 13 or 14, 1824 in Stuebenville, Ohio. His father was William born Mar 26, 1793 (don't know where- but he spoke German and Hugh Dunn says his name should have been Fischer) Hugh Dunn's mother was Isabella Fisher; grandparents John Christopher and Elizabeth Bratton Fisher. Hugh Dunn was also a Methodist Circuit rider in eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania- part of the Pittsburgh Conference. He came to Kansas 1n 1858 to serve as pastor of the Leavenworht Methodist Episcopal church. He served a number of churches in Kansas, was a Chaplin with Lane's Brigade in the Civil War, wrote an autobiograph- The Gun and the Gospel. Quite a character. Don't know about DNA- my husband and I ARE NOT related- only fascinated with the man and his stories. There is one living descendent in Topeka, KS (male) David Fisher Jr. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
