    1. [FISHER] 1930 census

    3. I have tried to locate my grandparents in the 1930 census of Allendale, Bergen, NJ. I have been over this census several times and have also used the all names index (without stating location) with every conceivable variation of possibilities (including first initial and Fre* or Tre* - in case of a misinterpretation) with no luck. I know that my mother, FlorenceAmy Fredenberg was born in Allendale in 1926. I also know that her brother was born in Allendale in 1931. This makes me believe they were most likely in NJ in 1930, even if not in Allendale. My grandparents are Robert London Fredenberg, born 25 July 1903 (birth name Rufus London Fredenberg) in Lake Como, Wayne, PA and Rilla Florence Fisher born 27 Jul 1902 in Sussex, Sussex, NJ. They were married 22 Aug 1924 in Milford, Pike, PA. Any ideas? 3. Carol, Someone suggested to me that when they were searching New York that they used the City Directory to narrow the search. Does the area have a City Directory? I search Bay City, Bay County, MI and they have one [to my surprise] that has been microfilmed by the Family History Library. I am ordering a copy next week when they, FHC, opens. When I had my father-in-law visiting a few months ago, he helped me with his family in Washington DC. He knew the area from a map and was able to point out the districts we should search. We went to mapquest and printed out a large enough size map that we could write on to get a "feel" of how the enumerator was walking his path. I guess in both cases I needed to find a street first or area to help with focus on the search. Of course I have spent many hours just looking at page after page looking for folks that I knew should be there and have not found them yet. I have my fingers crossed that the City Directory does the trick. Good luck to you, Pattie On Saturday, October 5, 2002, at 11:18 PM, Carol wrote: > I have tried to locate my grandparents in the 1930 > census of Allendale, Bergen, NJ.
