Hi Judy This ancestry research is so frustrating. My Mary Clementine Chesnut's mother and father were Felix and Harriet (Wade) Chesnut. He was born in 1836 and she in 1845. Their daughter Mary C. Chesnut (b. 1861) and my great-grandfather William Stanley Fisher (b. 1854) were married on November 9, 1882. I have several "John Chesnuts" (4) in my Chesnut line, but they are all in the 16 and 17 hundreds. I know my Dad spoke of an Uncle Tom, but I wasn't doing any research while he was alive. Maybe there is a connection there, but right now I don't see dates lining up. I live in Illinois, and I want to get over to Indiana to do research.
