He was born about 1884 of North Carolina and lived most of his adult life in Varnum Town. He was married to Mary Lena Varnam. She was born 1 July 1899 and died 26 Jun 1985. It is possible that Sullivan's father was from Whitesville, NC. Sullivan was among the early lighthouse keepers at Baldhead Island, NC.
