    1. Re: [FISHER] George Washington Fisher
    2. I am researching George Washington Fisher, b. February 15, 1800. Don't know exactly who his parents were, nor where he was born. He married Sarah Mariam Spikes in Copiah County, MS, on July 04, 1826. Their children were: 1) Joshua Fisher, b. March 25, 1827 2) Elias Fisher, b. March 03, 1829 3) Mary Ann Fisher, b. October 21, 1830 4) William Fisher, b. January 27, 1833 5) Sarah Ann Fisher, b. August 03, 1836 6) Grisham Hadley Fisher, b. October 09, 1837 7) Elizabeth Fisher, b. August 05, 1839 8) Matilda Fisher, b. August 14, 1843, in LA 9) Mary June Fisher, b. March 16, 1844, in LA 10) George Washington Fisher, Jr., b. August 18, 1845, in LA I don't know where Joshua nor Elias were born. I believe the middle children were born in Mississippi, maybe Copiah County. My husband is descended from Elias, and I am in contact with descendants of Sarah Ann and George W., Jr., but still cannot positively carry the line back past George Washington Fisher. I have a book about one G. W. Fisher who lived in MS in Claiborne County and in Texas, but he is definitely not our ancestor. I also have a book on order about a Fisher family, within which is a George Washington Fisher, son of William Fisher, in TN, but he doesn't look hopeful either -- the dates just do not match, plus that G.W.F. died young and unmarried. There are other Georges mentioned in the book, however. Is there anyone out there who can shed any light whatsoever on this family??? Or is anyone else researching a George Washington Fisher from the early 1800s? I would like to compare notes, if only to be able to rule out the G.W.F.s (and there were a number of them!) who were not ours! Sue Fisher
