Va., established a farm at McNutt, near Flatwoods, in 1827. A family cemetery, in use since this time, is in danger of being desecrated and violated. Through an unfortunate chain of events, The "Fisher Farm" has landed in the hands of a developer who intends to build a motor sports complex on this farm. The initial plans for this complex shows the cemetery right in the middle. If this is allowed to happen, family access to this cemetery, which has been ongoing via a right-of-way for 70 years, will end. Right now, the developer is waiting to hear whether he has been successful in obtaining grant money from the state of WV. The grant proposal is in the hands of the WV Economic Development Committee. Please find how to reach this committee and voice your objections at the end of this letter. This cemetery is of historical significance. The original land owners, slaves, World Wars I and II veterans, and several generations of their descendants are buried there. This race track would have a negative impact on the environment. The headwaters of Grannys Creek are on this land. This creek empties into the Elk River which supplies water to many WV communities. There are many many reasons to preserve cemeteries. Please join us, the descendants of the Benjamin Fisher Family, in voicing our opposition to this project. You may write Chairman Brian Kastick, 300 West Wing, State Capitol, 1900 Kanawha Boulevard East, Charleston, WV 25305. You may also email the Governor. Find his email on the state website. Please help! Thank you, Jennifer Waters (GGGranddaughter of Benjamin Franklin Fisher)
