Author: Edward_Reid_Smith Surnames: Feast, Fisher, Read Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.fisher/7922/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Henry Fisher was the son of Jonathan Fisher (both mariners) and married a widow, Elizabeth Feast nee Read, at St Botolph's Bishopsgate, London 20 January 1840. I have found Henry in the 1841 census (HO107/695/1 fo.7b, p.7) in Tower Hamlets, London living with his wife and stepson William. I have not found Henry in any subsequent census or other record. William appears as William Feast in Cheltenham in 1851, and his subsequent life is well documented. Elizabeth Fisher next appears in the 1871 census as a widow living in Cheltenham (RG10/2663,fo.52, p.21). She attended the death of her daughter-in-law's mother (Elizabeth Davies) in Cheltenham in 1872, and her own death occurred in Cheltenham in 1879. I am searching for information about Henry and his ancestry, and his life after 1841. Also Elizabeth between 1841 and 1871. Fisher's first wife Telitha A. Blassingame, wrongly skipping over Mary Adaline Hamm. . I have also looked further back into William Fisher Nancy because their grandparents would be about the right age to have served in the Revolutionary War. The DAR Patriot Index books show 142 recognized "Fisher" patriots and SAR's Index (on CD) lists even more. Also, SAR shows several "Hamm" patriots where DAR does not have any listed. . As the local chapter SAR Registrar, it would be exciting to find a direct namesake Patriot for several of my cousins and their kids. Keep us advised if you find anything, even if it needs more research. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Hi Doris! I don't think I knew you had a Fisher line as well!! My gg-grandmother was a Fisher from Spartanburg/Greenville SC and present day Transylvania Co, NC. Our Fisher line came out of around Caroline Co, MD and before that county was formed, probably one of the three-Talbot, Dorchester or Queen Anne's Co, MD. Stuck in Maryland on my gggg-grandfather, James Washington Fisher, SR (not really sure his middle name is Washington, but that is what is on his tombstone and the DAR records.) My ggg-grandfather, James Fisher, JR married Darcus Bowling in Spartanburg Co, SC. Darcus had a brother named Dudley A. Bowling (b. abt 1800) whom we have discussed before. Where are your Fisher's from? Patricia Cantrell Columbus, GA
