My second great grandfather was Rev. George W. Fisher born in Kentucky in 1808. He lived in Shelbyville, Illinois and was instrumental in founding the Shelby Methodist Academy in the early 1850's. Hugh Dunn Fisher and wife Elizabeth are buried in Topeka, KS- first buried in Topeka Cemetery, then removed to Mt. Auburn Cemetery (across the road) and third remvoed to Mt. Hope Cemetery. Don't know if the Crates are his adopted family or what the situation might have been. Does anyone know anything more about these Fishers or the other family connections? Came to america pre-Civil war as Raymond was a soldier in 12th Reg. Co " B" Missouri Volunteers (Infantry) served under General Ostershaus and Captain Frederick T. Ledergerber also of St. Louis. Raymond and Anna had 6 kids, John, Emma, Bertha, Annie and Louise Anna my Paternal great grandmother. Louisa Anna married my Great Grandfather Johann Adolphess Bolhofner. John the brother married Mary White of Wisconsin and had eight children. Elizabeth, Jennie, Hattie, Mary , John, Joseph, William and Nellie Fisher. the name changed spelling from the German Fischer to Fisher after Raymond.
