    3. Jackie, I really don't know... Following is the obit on my grandmother and all the info I have on Alfred: Mary Katherine Rebecca Dirk was born on December 5,1901 in Argentine, Ks., the daughter of William and Lucy Fisher. She departed this life on October 11, 1987 at the St. Francis Hospital in Mountain View, MO., at the age of 85 years, 10 months and six days. She was united in marriage to Clarence "Mike" Edward Denton on March 9, 1926 and to this union two children were born. Her husband, Mike, preceded her in death on December 7, 1958. She was also married to Henry Edward Dirk in August of 1963 and he passed away on October 18, 1968. She was also preceded in death by her mother and father; one son, Virgil Monroe Denton, who died in August of 1973; one brother Alfred Fisher; and a sister, Louella Fletcher. The Virgil is my dad. The Alfred you found mentioned could be the son of the brother to my grandmother above. Also, I have Mary Katherene's social security application where she enters for birthplace Calhoun, Henry County, Missouri. I tend to use that info instead of the info in the obit about Kansas. 3. I was confused by the differences in birth places for a while and I should probably start posting both of them again...Mary Kathrene's obituary states Argentine, Wyandotte County, Kansas with no maiden name for Lucy and since this was the first bit of info I went on that for quite awhile. I finally sent for her social security application which gives the maiden name of her mother as Sherrow and her place of birth as the one in Missouri. I have of late been going on the application rather than what the obituary, however, since there might be people that will go by what they have like I did. Thanks for your quick response, Lainee ----- Original Message ----- From: Indiagen@aol.com Sent: Wednesday, July 24, 2002 9:39 PM To: FISHER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [FISHER] Samson FISHER / William Fisher In a message dated 07/24/2002 6:13:09 PM Pacific Daylight Time, elaine_dee@hotmail.com writes: > How can you be a daughter-in-law at age 2 months??? So, I say the census > is wrong!! Well yes, of course - that was my point. But the census could be right about Murtie being a Pram, not a Fisher. Who knows??? Meanwhile ... regarding your last query on William Fisher and Lucy Sherrow ... ancestry.com shows them marrying on 13 October 1896. But it doesn't say where, and it gives no further info on William. Interestingly, it shows that Mary Katherine (sic) Fisher was born in Argentine, Kansas - not Calhoun, Henry Co, MO. The submitter could, of course, be wrong. It also states that Lucy Sherrow died in Doniphan, MO in 1904 ... so even though there are almost 2,000 entries at genealogy.com's 1900 census for William Fisher, I looked at the Missouri entries to see if I could find one for either Henry County or Ripley County (where Doniphan is). I found neither. I tried. Sorry. I tried. Sorry. India Penney

    3. Another thing is that the census lists: Murtie Pram - daughter in law - at home - age 2 months - born Missouri. How can you be a daughter-in-law at age 2 months??? So, I say the census is wrong!! Just my humble opinion. Lainee ----- Original Message ----- From: Indiagen@aol.com Sent: Wednesday, July 24, 2002 8:35 PM To: FISHER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [FISHER] Samson FISHER In a message dated 07/22/2002 11:36:30 PM Pacific Daylight Time, m_falcon33@hotmail.com writes: > I'm looking for a > GGG-Grandfather's Birth information a one Samson Fisher b.1834 who settled > in the Central Ohio area then later moved west to Missouri. They're at www.familysearch.org. I find Samson Fisher listed there ... born 22 April 1834 in Ohio, died 31 Jan 1893 in Kansas City, Missouri. He married Margaret Allen Smith on 10 Jan 1854 in Highland County, Ohio. She died 18 May 1880 in St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri. They had 11 children ... Isaac, Ada, Nora, John, Thomas, Laura, Samuel, Jacob, Myrtie, Ida and Charles. You can also get the name and address of the submitter of this info. Second of all, ancestry.com has a listing in 1860 for a Sampson Fisher in Highland County, OH (Hamer Township) ... but there's a glitch and I couldn't access that page. Thirdly, I have the 1880 census which I looked at for you. Samson Fisher is living in St. Joseph, MO, working as a carpenter, and the census states that both his parents were born in Prussia. It also states that his wife (who had died earlier that year) was born in Prussia. The listing is as follows: Samson Fisher - head - carpenter - age 46 - born Ohio. Thomas Fisher - son - works on farm - age 23 - born Ohio. John Fisher - son - works on farm - age 18 - born Ohio. Samuel Fisher - son - works on farm - age 15 - born Ohio. Laura Fisher - daughter - at school - age 8 - born Ohio. Charles Fisher - son - at home - age 6 - born Indiana. Murtie Pram - daughter in law - at home - age 2months - born Missouri. John T. Pram - son in law - laborer - age 23 - born North Carolina. Ida M. Pram - daughter - keeping house - age 17 - born Ohio. There's obviously an error here...Murtie Pram would be Ida and John's daughter, and therefore Samson's granddaughter, not daughter-in-law. On the other hand, the info at LDS lists a daughter born to Samson and Margaret in 1880, named Myrtie. Someone's wrong somewhere. If Myrtie is Samson and Margaret's daughter - then Margaret (who died in May) probably died as a result of childbirth. But then Myrtie's last name would be Fisher. Hmmm. Hope this is of some help.
