That far back the records would have been recorded in Frederick. Other counties didn't split off until some time later. -----Original Message----- From: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com [mailto:gc-gateway@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of sjsturek@aol.com Sent: Sunday, July 28, 2002 3:54 PM To: FISHER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [FISHER] Re: Hattie Crawford Fisher, Joan Fisher, VA, Baltimore and Buffalo This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. For sure we know he was born on Oct. 6, 1833 in Ohio. He traveled and lived in Ohio, Nebraska, Kansas and Iowa (possibly Indiana too). He is buried in Bradyville, Iowa. He is my gt-gt grandfather and from family talk he fought in the Civil War on the Confederate side. Do you or anyone else out there know more information on this man? He was married three times to Elizabeth Warren, Janet Whictun (Whictum?) and Rhoda Streeter. From his first wife he had a son by the name of Warren Fisher, born in 1858. I am related to his last wife who was born on Aug. 13, 1845 in Ravenna OH and who died on Jan 22 1916. She is buried beside him in Bradyville, IA. They were married in Port Clinton, Ohio. This is all I know about Jasper Fisher. I would love to know more, especially about what he did and where he was during the Civil War. I would also like to know more about his family, for example the name of his parents or his family before. Is there any long lost relative of mine out there who knows any more about this Fisher relative that would not mind getting in touch with me via e-mail?? Thank you so very much!!

Can you help? > I purchased the CD collection from LDS. Sadly, no census lists parents' names. I had a thought, though. Samson makes me think of Sam's son ... so I did a quick check of the 1850 census for a Samuel Fisher in Highland County, Hamer Township, Ohio, thinking Samuel MIGHT be Samson's father's name. There IS a listing! Unfortunately, ancestry.com is having a problem with its database for that particular county and township and I can't access that page either. On the other hand, I then went to the LDS site to find that a Samuel Fisher married a Margaret Haugham in Highland Co, Ohio ... but on 28 October 1834, several months after Samson was supposedly born. Of course one or both of those dates could be wrong. My suggestion is to find a NARA (National Archives and Records Administration) facility near you. You can find a list of them by going to http://www.archives.gov/facilities/index.html. They have every census on microfilm. Or, your local library might be able to help you. Here's the info as I got it from ancestry.com: Samuel Fisher - 1850 national census - Ohio, Highland County, Hamer Township, page 283. Sampson Fisher - 1860 national census - Ohio, Highland County, Hamer Township, page 180. (The "p" in Samson is the way ancestry.com had it listed. Don't know if that's a typo, or if the census taker wrote it down incorrectly.) Good luck! India
Am seeking information on Comfort Fisher who was in Chittenden Co., VT in 1800, Steuben Co., NY in 1810 and St. Clair Co., IL by 1820. He may have been the father of my Isaac Fisher who was born 1802 in New York, possibly Cayuga County. Comfort married Mary Andrews (b. CT) whose father's name was Isaac. My Isaac Fisher named his first son Isaac Andrew Fisher. I have also found the name Isaac Benoni Andrews in Chittenden Co., Vermont, and my Isaac Fisher named a son Elisha Benoni. My Isaac Fisher left New York abt. 1852 and came to Tippecanoe Co., Indiana. In the 1880 census he gives his father's b/p as VT and his mother's b/p as CT. Any help appreciated.
