    1. [FISHER] 1930 census
    2. Carol
    3. I have tried to locate my grandparents in the 1930 census of Allendale, Bergen, NJ. I have been over this census several times and have also used the all names index (without stating location) with every conceivable variation of possibilities (including first initial and Fre* or Tre* - in case of a misinterpretation) with no luck. I know that my mother, FlorenceAmy Fredenberg was born in Allendale in 1926. I also know that her brother was born in Allendale in 1931. This makes me believe they were most likely in NJ in 1930, even if not in Allendale. My grandparents are Robert London Fredenberg, born 25 July 1903 (birth name Rufus London Fredenberg) in Lake Como, Wayne, PA and Rilla Florence Fisher born 27 Jul 1902 in Sussex, Sussex, NJ. They were married 22 Aug 1924 in Milford, Pike, PA. Any ideas? 3. Sue, http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/ Welcome to FreeBMD. FreeBMD stands for Free Births, Marriages, and Deaths. The FreeBMD Project's objective is to provide free Internet access to the Civil Registration index information for England and Wales. The Civil Registration system for recording births, marriages, and deaths in England and Wales has been in place since 1837 and is one of the most significant single resources for genealogical research back to Victorian times. The FreeBMD project only contains index information for the period 1837-1901. SUEWFISHER@aol.com wrote: Can someone tell me what FreeBMD is??? It sounds interesting! 3. Nothing is known about my grandfather and his brothers. They were orphaned when he was 11 years old. His name is Albert L. FIsher and he was born March 22, 1873 in Portersville, Penn. His two brothers Charles and Benjamin, I think, went their own ways, One to be a farmer in Nebraska and the other (Charles?) a doctor in Willamette Falls, Oregon. My father always said he was the 9th generation of Fisher in the USA, but I have been unable to find anything about the Fishers from Portersville, PA. Can anyone help me? Thanks Scott Fisher

I'm descended from a Fisher family that emigrated enmass from NY state to Barry county, MI around 1850-1860. They were at different times in Rhinebeck, NY and the Rochester area. I would be happy to share more info if you think there could be a connection.

The IGI has been down for a week so cannot check there either. Both the parents seem to have been born in the same general area, but I have to find out where Durham, Astwell is. Mary Ann was written as Mary A. Fisher on the fiche but trancribed as just Mary Fisher on the online index.
