I would very much like to hear from anyone in the USA or UK who is researching FISHER or GIBBENS / GIBBONS and the associated family names in Kent, England, particularly in the villages south of Canterbury such as Upper and Lower Hardres, Elham, Elmstead, Hawkinge, Coldred and Eastry. A researcher of FREDERICK GIBBENS and MINNIE ROSECRANS in the USA may be able to throw some light on our brickwalls which are FISHER prior to 1787, GIBBONS prior to 1675 and the children of FREDERICK GIBBENS and ELIZABETH HOPPER. I have: 1. ROBERT2 FISHER (FISHER1)1 was born 1787 in Lower Hardres c1851. He married MARY RIGDEN, daughter of JEREMIAH RIGDEN and ELIZABETH. She was born 1793 in Gravesend c1851. 2. ROBERT3 FISHER (ROBERT2, FISHER1) was born 1823 in Upper Hadres Elham c1851, and died 1911. He married SARAH TAYLOR 1849. She was born 1828 in Hawkinge, and died 1881. 3. PIERCE2 FISHER (FISHER1) He married MARY COURT, daughter of WILLIAM COURT and ELIZABETH. And this is the connection with USA: 4. FREDERICK7 GIBBENS (FREDERICK6, JOHN5, THOMAS4 GIBBONS, SAMUEL3, JOHN2, EDWARD1) was born 1864, and died 1901 in United States of America. He married MINNIE ESTHER ROSECRANS. She was born 1872, and died 1932. Children of FREDERICK GIBBENS and MINNIE ROSECRANS are: i. FRANK8 GIBBENS, b. United States of America. ii. ALBERT GIBBENS, b. 1899, United States of America. The link between FISHER and GIBBENS / GIBBONS is a marriage: 5. DAVID EDWARD4 FISHER (ROBERT3, ROBERT2, FISHER1) was born 1866, and died 1924. He married EMMA GIBBENS, daughter of FREDERICK6 GIBBENS (JOHN5, THOMAS4 GIBBONS, SAMUEL3, JOHN2, EDWARD1) and ELIZABETH HOPPER. She was born 1866 in Eastry, Kent, England, and died 1943 in Smarden, Kent. Bill, The New Jersey Turnpike Authority ought to be drawn and quartered! I don't know that my signature from California would hold any weight with a New Jersey Judge but I support your efforts to stop this injustice. I have forwarded your message to the rest of the board members of my genealogy club I know some of them do research in that part of the country. At least it will pass the word on to more people. Dear List, I haven't posted my FISHER search in a long time. Hoping there's some new blood here that might be able to shed some light. FACTS: William P. FISHER was born circa 1801. He married a woman with the surname FRAZIER/FRAZER/FRAISER circa 1826. They had a daughter Susan Ann FISHER, born 27 Oct 1827 in Wood Co, VA (became WVA after Civil War.) Susan Ann FISHER married Daniel PENDLETON (of MD) in 1849 and had 2 children: one died young, the other was Susan Ida PENDLETON (or Ida Susan Pendleton) born circa 1852. They lived in St. Louis, MO. Susan FISHER then married Simon Bolivar MARYE in St. Louis in 1859 and they moved to Vicksburg, MS. They had 4 children: Sydney MARYE (b. 1860 MS), Alice MARYE (b. 1862 MS), Clifford MARYE (b. 1865 AL), and Paul MARYE (b. 1866 MS). UNPROVEN SUPPOSITIONS: 1. William P. FISHER married Frances "Fannie" FRAZER (daughter of Thomas FRAZER and Polly CRIST) in Greenbrier Co, VA in 1826. (It is a FACT that Fannie Frazer married a William Fisher - but I don't have proof that it's MY William Fisher.) 2. William P. FISHER also had a son, born after his daughter Susan Ann FISHER. 3. William P. FISHER is related to the FISHERs of Augusta Co, VA. His father's name might have been William or Daniel. Anyone have any info that might help me? Thanks and all the best, India Penney

Hi - New to list and searching for someone who might be able to help find John Fisher married to Rachel Casteel. Rachel was the daughter of Lina Spurgeon and Jeremiah Casteel. I am looking for John Fisher and ancestors. It appears he died in the late 1840's. It is possible that the following were family lines for him: Frazee, Kelley, or Brown. The children were separated into different families in Preston County, WV and Fayette County, PA. The surnames listed above have no link to any known relatives. My grandmother was born in Kent County, Michigan. I have no information on her uncles. Would love to know if your George and Robert are related. There were quite a few Fisher in Michigan at that time.
