Hi!! I say we ALL send our gedcoms to Mary to put them on OUR new site that she is developing. Then, we'll have ONE place to check everything out!! Just make a gedcom of your ancestors, and/or include your earliest Fisher and do a descendency gedcom... We would ALL benefit from this! There are two prominent lines of Fishers who came to American in the 1700s. Wouldn't it be great if someone had an intermarriage that would tie both together? Boy, what a find that would be! Jan Doug <dougfish@carr.org> wrote:Hi Carol - My Fishers entered America in 1749 via Philadelphia. In 1851 they bought property in Codorus Township, PA, which is just southeast of Hanover, and just over the line from Maryland, just about in the middle of the state. If your family were from NE Pennsylvania, there probably aren't any connections, but anything's possible. If you want to take a close look at what I've got I could email you a copy of my GEDCOM file, or if you want to give me some names to look for in my file I'd be happy to do that for you. I will be looking forward to that web site. I sure hope I will be able to find leads. It sure would be a blessing to put some pieces together. I know nothing more than what I sent you on my Fishers. and that isn't much. I only know that Catherine was married in Germany and her and Casper Huber/Hoover came to America. Where they were from not for sure. I only have a passenger list to verify Casper and Catherine. Waiting for new web site, Good luck to you all. Winnie - My Fisher line is from Pennsylvania and Northern Maryland, but none of the names you have seem to ring a bell with me. I'm sharing with Mary to help her get her site started, so you'll probably be able to take a look at what I've got there. My personal line runs from Hanns Fisher (we think) in Deinsdorf, Germany, to George Fisher b. 1734 Deinsdorf, Germany, to Michael Fisher b. 1757 Maryland, to Adam Fisher b. 1790 Maryland, to George Washington Fisher b. 1831 Pennsylvania, to Edgar Fisher b. 1854 Maryland, to Edgar Wells Fisher b. 1890 Maryland (my grandfather). The Hanns Fisher link is NOT proven, and I'm not sure that can be, but the circumstantial evidence is pretty strong. If I'm correct with this link, then I have George's maternal line (Arnold/Arnoldt) going back to the 1540's. I can give reasonbly good sources for most info back to George's immigration to America. Before that seems to be good info, but was obtained from other amateurs without much source material. The dates, places, and names match very well, though. Some other surnames are Mathias, Fair, Houck, Bailey (Beli), Foreman (Fuhrman), Lawyer (Lauer), Smeeth (Smuck). These are all descendants of George that branched off in the first couple of generations. If any of this seems to fit your line let me know and I'll be glad to share whatever I have with you. That goes for anyone else on this mailing list as well. I'm always happy to meet cousins and share family history with them! :-) Doug Fisher ----- Original Message ----- From: "Winnie Nichols" <fayth@charter.net> To: <FISHER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 06, 2003 7:13 PM Subject: Re: [FISHER] Fisher Photo and message site > Hello All, sure would love to find some of my "Fishers/Fischers. Hello, As soon as I get the site up and running I will post the address to the list. Beginning a new page is always the hardest part for me. I have a really hard time trying to figure out just what I want to do. I am happy to say I have received a few pictures from people on th list so at least I now have something to work with. I've decided to just dive in and start creating it and let it grow and develop as time goes by. I am not an expert in anyway on building webpages, I just learn as I go. I welcome any information that might help other researchers or help someone make a connection. It is always a thrill to me to find another cousin. I am also in no way shape or form an expert on the surname Fisher. As a matter of fact I have very little documentation on my own line, but I am slowly working on that. I'll let you know as soon as I have a page up and running. Who knows, something may spark something and one may find that some leads. Blessings to all, Win ps...I am not a genealogist, I am just searching for info on my ancestors for future family, like everyone else is.All family members tha can help have all gone, I only have bits and pieces.
