    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/YVW.2ACEB/3883 Message Board Post: Albert Ephraim Fisher married Mary (Annie) Caddy 1894 in Melbourne, Victoria. 1899/1900 they sued for divorce (yet to view records to find outcome!) They were still together when Albert went off to war 1916, having their last child in 1918, as Annie was named Next-of-kin. I then find Albert buried in the War Cemetery in Perth, he had enlisted in WW2.(took a few years off his age) He now has a widow called Winifred living at Subiaco. He died May 1942. There is no doubt that they are the same man, as there is a letter from Winnie filed in both war service records, plus the parents and birthplace are the same. Love to hear from anyone connected with either families.

    3. James, In my post, I was referring to Fisher Descendants in a cemetery in Beaver County Pa. To clarify, I was not talking about my direct ancestors per se. I was talking about my Grandfather's aunts and cousins, who were in fact DESCENDANTS from the common Fisher Ancestor. Sorry if my posting was unclear or offended anyone on this newslisting. 1. Re: [FISHER] More William Fishers
    2. It's becoming evident that the name William Fisher is almost as common as John Smith!! Talk about a brick wall: I have a William P. Fisher born circa 1801. Probably VA, although I have no proof. He married a woman with the surname Frazer (or Frazier, Frasier, Fraiser!) circa 1826. My hunch is that this woman is Fanny Frazer, daughter of Thomas Frazer and Polly Crist of Augusta Co, then Greenbrier Co, VA - because she married a William Fisher in November of 1826. But, again, I have no proof. The only true fact I have is that William P. Fisher and Miss Frazer (Frazier, Frasier, Fraiser) gave birth to a daughter - Susan Ann Fisher - on 30 October 1827 in Wood Co, VA (now WVA). I have a hunch (based on an 1830 census for a William P. Fisher in Wood Co) that they gave birth to a son the following year or two. I DO know about Susan Ann Fisher. She married first Daniel Pendleton of Maryland in 1849 and lived in St. Louis, MO in 1850. They had at least 2 children, one of whom died young, the other being Ida Pendleton born circa 1852 who married Richard Penney in Missouri in 1873. Susan Ann Fisher married second Simon Bolivar Marye of VA in St. Louis in 1859. They had at least 4 children: Sydney Thomas Marye b. 1860 Vicksburg, MS; Alice Virginia Marye b. 1862 Vicksburg, MS; Clifford Parke Marye b. 1865 Mobile, AL; and Paul Augustus Marye b. 1866 Vicksburg, MS. But who is William P. Fisher? From whom is he descended? Who was his wife - the mysterious Miss Frazer (Frazier, Frasier, Fraiser)? And is he the "newly discovered" William P. Fisher of VA who died in Warren Co, MO in 1866 and is buried in Bellefontaine Cemetery, St. Louis? (I've just written Bellefontaine to see if their records can help.) Any ideas for me?! India Penney

    3. I want to thank everyone that has contributed photos. I am going to try to get the last few I have here posted to the site tomorrow and then I am going to stop working on the site for a very short time. I am having computer problems and I need to reformat. I will be spending all my precious computer time backing up my files. You never realize how much stuff you have on your computer until you realize you are going to have to erase it all and start over. I am still VERY serious about setting up a Fisher Resource center. As soon as I get my computer problems taken care of I will be working on the site again and hopefully moving it to a better site. Thanks again for all the support. Please don't submit anything to me right now I will let you know when I am ready to get back to work. Thanks, Mary Novak Kocak

    3. Dear SB, Hallelujah!!!!! I've finally found someone with Fishers from Western Pa!!!!!!!! Thank you much for responding to my query. There are a couple Fisher Bibles in Existance, one with a title page dated 1802. The old bible contains birth dates back to around 1750's and 1760's and 1770's. I will have to pull it out of my files to check and see. A friend from Pittsburgh graciously let me make copies of the original bible copies she had. This Bible may or may not pertain to your ancestors. I believe there was a John Fisher and Thomas Fisher I found in the early deed index of Allegheny County. I'm sure there is a connection to your Fishers and mine because descendants of my Fishers lived in Beaver County also, and all intermarried with Scotch Irish Presbyterians. I have Fisher Descendants buried at Service U.P. Church in Beaver County, I cannot find the burial place for the older ones in Allegheny, although Sarah Ann Fisher and husband John Jardine were buried at Gilliard cemetery (Mt. Gilead Presbyterian Church) and the graves were moved to Sharon Presbyterian Church when the Pittsburgh airport was constructed. Feel free to e-mail me. I can root through my files and let you know what I've found so far. Maybe what I have can be of help to you! Thanks again! Marcia Helton

    1. [FISHER] Ancestor or Descendant?
    2. James Shuman
    3. Cousins, Here's a basic dictionary lesson: Several times in recent days I have noticed that someone asks a question regarding their ancestors but uses the word "descendants". ANCESTOR: a progenitor; a forefather; one from whom a person descends, such as a grandfather, great-grandfather, etc. DESCENDANT: one who derives his/her lineage from a person who lived at an earlier time, such as a son or daughter, grandson or granddaughter, etc. Thus, most of our work is in looking for ANCESTORS, especially if we're searching in the 1700s or 1800s. Exceptions might be if we are discussing a known individual from that time period, and are asking questions regarding his/her children, grandchildren, etc. THEN we might be asking whether there is any evidence that so-and-so is a DESCENDANT of the first individual.

    1. Re: [FISHER] Re: your fisher line
    2. Hello Listers: Does anyone out there have Fisher descendants from Scotland circa 1700's from Scotland that were previously from Germany (Fischer) then immigrated to Canada in the 1800's changing the name back to Fisher. The Fisher's of Scotland were from the Perthshire area. (Killin/Kenmore) Anything would be of help and thanking all in advance Carol (Las Vegas)
