Author: fisherjohnr Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.fisher/2732.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Tip I have for you also for your Fisher line going back farther is look for a family name change- many of the families with the name of Fish changed it to Fisher in the 1800's, including my ancestors. I remember somewhere in my research seeing documentation of the change for I think it was a Thomas Fish to Fisher for the whole family thru some court records on Martha's Vineyard. I have found no legal records of my ancestors making the change but following records its clearly what happened. Would love to know why they did that. Some stigma attached to the Fish name??? Good luck with your searching. If you are related to the Fish line chances are you can chase it back to 3 Fish brothers that helped found Sandwich Mass - Good luck John R. Author: jeny2n Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.fisher/2732.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am related to the Fishers of Nantucket. Oldest documented relation is Hiram W. Fisher (1819-1864), married to Harriett C. Holmes (16 July 1822). They had 7 children. Confusing because I have also found documentation of a Herain Fisher, born close to when Hiram was. I thought maybe it was same person, different spelling. They both were married to a Harriett and some of the kids had same names.. To the best I can tell though, these were 2 different families. 1. [FISHER] Christian Fulton-Born in Holland
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: BKleitches6567 Surnames: Fulton, Johnston, James, Friedhoff Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.fisher/7442/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I found Christian Fulton in the 1890 census living in Conemaugh Borough, Pa. He is age 85 and living with his son John Fulton, wife Isabellaand sons Willliam and Albert and daughter Emma. Census states that he was bron in Holland. This supports the fact that some of my Fulton line came from Holland if the census is correct. I have the descendants of Christian Fulton and they are connected with my Fultons born in Ireland. This is so confusing. Does anyone relate to this group? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: ScottStrole Surnames: Fischer Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.fisher/7439/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am searching for a Gerald Fischer who was a youth evangelist prior to 1950. In 1950 he came to our church to become the pastor. He was supposedly an Assemblies of God pastor, but the headquarters has no record of him ever being ordained. I am writing a history of our church along with a short biography of each of the pastor's of our church. All I have is a clipping from our local newspaper in Anderson, Indiana stating that he would start on May 28, 1950. It stated that both him and his wife had served as youth evangelist and had travels across the country. If anyone can shed some light on this person, I would appriciate it greatly.
