    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: TimKrieger Surnames: Fisher Mortorff Stock Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.fisher/7485/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Looking for information on Phoebe Fisher. She was born April 4, 1823 in Pennsylvania and died January 10, 1883 in DeKalb County, Indiana. She married Jacob Mortorff on February 22, 1845 in Stark County, Ohio. I believe her mother's name was Catherine (born 1794) and she had a brother named William Fisher (born 1831) based on the 1850 census in DeKalb County. I know nothing more about her parents. On Ancestry's One World Tree, there is a George Fisher (1789-) and Catherine Stock (1794-1862) that is listed with children Phoebe and William (with the correct years), however, I have no more information than this. Am hoping to find evidence of Pheobe's parents. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Fisher on this web page - http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~lsnell/p60.htm It seems Archibald served in Civil war with this man and was mentioned several times in his pension file. Read the whole thing as there are a few times Archibald was mentioned. I believe Archibald must have know this man through their occupations before the war as I have several references that Archibald J. Fisher was a Jeweler. In the 1880 Philadelphia Census he was listed as a "jewel setter", and in the 1870 Philadelphia Census as a "jeweller", and in the 1860 Phila. Census as a "jeweller". Also in the Philadelphia City Directory for 1880 (available on Ancestry), there are two Archibald Fishers listed, one as a jeweller and one as a weighmaster. Also to pick up on Elizabeth Allen Boyer - I believe there may be another generation between her and Alexander Boyer. I believe her parents may be a Henry and Catherine Boyer. There is a Henry Boyer listed in Phila. 1790 census for Henry Boyer in Southwark, which is the area of Phila. where all these families converged. I live just outside of Philadelphia and have photographs of Laurel Hill Cemetery, Old Swedes Church and of Elizabeth Allen Fisher's grave. I could send them to you if you wish. Also have photos of Charles G. Zwicker's son Edward C. Zwicker who would have been your 3X great granduncle (I think?). And have photo of Ida Stahl. Talk to you soon, Deb Wilson. I think I found an obit for him in the Public Ledger Jan 26, 1843, pg 2 : On the 24th inst., Mr. JOHN FISHER, in the 44th year of his age, in the hope of a glorious immortality. His friends, and those of the family, are respectfully invited to attend his funeral, from his late residence, in Church street, between Swanson and Front and Christian and Washington streets, to-morrow afternoon, at 2 o'clock, without further notice. I always thought his wife Elizabeth's last name was Allen. Maybe that is way I couldn't find info on her. Middle name was Allen ? Will be looking for BOYER now. When I post the Tree on ancesstry my sources will be up and you can check out census pages etc. Here is how I am connected to Zwicker's. Charles Gottlieb Zwicker (Harry's brother), married Henrietta Fisher on May 23, 1879 at St. Michael's & Zion Lutheran Church in Phila. Their eldest son was Edward Charles Zwicker (1880-1955). He married Lily Mae Boofter in 1900. They had 4 children: Henrietta, Lillian, Carolyn and Edward Charles Zwicker Jr. Edward C. Zwicker Jr. (1916-1997), was my father. Are you connected to the Zwicker's through Harry? I know that my Aunt Henrietta used to correspond with a cousin named Ida whose married name was Stahl. In fact I have a letter written by Ida Stahl detailing some Zwicker geneaolgy from the 1970's. I know there were also Schober, Cant and Moore's connected with that line of Zwicker's also. I'll be back in touch soon. My email is [email protected] Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: freewilly166 Surnames: Fisher, Dennis, Coats, Zwicker, Knox, Boyer Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.fisher/3511.14.3.1.1.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello ~ First, thank you for the info on Harry Zwicker. That was a huge help to me. I never was able to make the direct link to his being Charles G. Zwicker's brother. And to find out their parents names was fantastic - takes me back another generation on that side. Would love any other details on Charles Zwicker and Mary Wormser. Now to the Fishers. Our John Fisher, Archibald's father, was born in 1794 in Phila. Pa. He was married to Elizabeth Allen Boyer on July 2, 1824 at Old Swede's Church in Phila. John Fisher's father was Archibald John Fisher (same name as John's son), - Archibald John Fisher was born in 1753 in Northern Ireland. He had a "Letter of Marque" and was a sea captain. He died in 1805, supposedly at sea. John Fisher's mother was Ann Francis Dennis, who was born in 1753 in Philadelphia. She and Archibald were married June 26, 1783 at Old Swede's Church in Phila. Ann died July 28, 1809. Archibald John Fisher (1753-1809) father was John Fisher (seems they kept using same names). This John Fisher was born in Ireland. Archibald J. Fisher's mother was Margaret Knox, also born in Ireland. Ann Francis Dennis's father was Richard Dennis and mother was Hannah Coats, both of Philadelphia. For more on this line I will copy and past below what I have posted on the Dennis board: Richard Dennis - Born March 10, 1722 Elizabethtown NJ. Died January 10, 1797 in Philadelphia. Buried Coats Family Burial Ground (3rd & Browne St. Philadelphia). Bodies in this cemetery moved in 1850's to Laurel Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia. Richard's first wife was Hannah Coats (1725-1761). Second wife was Mary Dennis (Died Aug. 29, 1797 at age 69 years.) Children that I know of: Anne Frances, Hannah/Richard (possibly twins), Rebecca, John, Henrietta (married David Ware), Patrick, Elizabeth and Barney Cozens (also known as Barne C. or Barne Cozens) Barney's dates are Aug. 20 1764-Aug. 10 1819). According to sources which I will elaborate later, Richard Dennis was a shipwright and had his own shipyard on the Philadelphia waterfront in the mid to late 1700's. His shipyard was on Swanson Street, down from Old Swede's Church and was right next to shipyard of Warwick Coates, his brother-in-law. Richard's son John was a foreman in his father's shipyard, and son Barney also worked there. According to Pennsylvania Magazine of History & Biography Vol XXVII and to the book "The Philadelphia Navy Yard: From the Birth of the U.S. Navy to the Nuclear Age" by Jeffery M. Dorwart and Jean K. Wolf, Richard Dennis's Shipyard was instrumental in building warships during the Revolution. These references cite other details of his life and work. Richard Dennis was also elected to be on Committee for the city of Phila. (Southwark)for the 1773 Maryland Convention with met at Philosphical Society's Hall in August of 1773. When I return I will write what I know of Richard's parents and compare notes with you. My ancestry traces down from Richard and Hannah's daughter Anne Frances Dennis, who married Archibald John Fisher in 1783. I have more on the Coats line (Richard Dennis's wife, Hannah Coats) - have that line going back to England in early 1700's. And have more on John Fisher's wife Elizabeth Allen Boyer - have her line going back to an Alexander Boyer, a French Huguenot. When I get my entire tree posted on Ancestry I will have details on all this. In the meantime, any other Zwicker details would be appreciated. Charles G. Zwicker, Harry's brother, was my Great Grandfather. His son, Edward Charles Zwicker was my Grandfather and his son, Edward C. Zwicker Jr. was my father.
