Your message caught my attention. My great grandfather was Jacob Fisher. He was born in Pennsylvania in 1829, moved to Ohio and then on to Montgomery County Illinois where he lived and died in 1915. His father was Michael Fisher who had a brother George. George was born in 1807 in Pennsylvania and believed to have died 1879 but am not sure where. George married Elizabeth Bisel. Does that sound like a possibility to be the same as your George and Elizabeth? I'm 7th generation now. In a biography written in 1893 George's father had left holdings of $60K. No one has found it yet.:( ...... My dad had told me that he didn't know of any horse thiefs in the family. I am researching my daughter-in-laws family and I have found in some paper work that she found after the death of her mother that is a handmade heart and on the front it says: "To Daddy" and on the back it says: "When will you get a pipe organ for me? Antonio Fisher 1931". She nor her brother and sisters do not know who this little boy is in 1931 who made this heart for his father and why their mother would have it. I have searched her family back to the 1700's and they were all from the Tennessee area, mostly Memphis. If anyone would happen to know who this Antonio Fisher is, I sure would love to talk to you. Her parents were Phillip Allan Fisher, Jr. and Anna Wincie Nance, They owned and operated a prominent insurance company for many many years in the Memphis area, known as D.A. Fisher Insurance Inc. Named from Phillip's brother Drury A. Fisher. Their grandparents were Phillip Alston Fisher and Katherine Posey Ridgeway. Any help would be appreciated. I think its in march, he is 49 yrs old. My mother said he is an only child, that his parents are seperated, so Evelyn could just be his step mother. My mother is also bi-polar, so it makes it difficult to ever bring any of this up to her. She doesn't understand why I want to know my heritage, but she KNOWs who her father is, I've never been able to tell anyone what my ancestry is. He has a daughter, I found the marriage record to the woman he married in 1997 at Las Vegas, NV (Laura Zarasua), divorced in 1999. Daughter's name from marriage is Haley Nicole Fisher, age 10, born Aug 5. I don't know if any of this can help me locate helpful information. I'm kind of stuck on how to get correct, useful info. Any help you guys could provide would be appreciated. Many of the people in that area named Fish changed their name to Fisher, probably thinking they were going to spare the kids a childhood of being called "Fish":) I can testify that did not work:) My Fish line goes back to the 3 brothers that were part of the founders of Sandwich Mass. Fish Sandwich. Funny stuff huh? So...I watch the Fisher forum for any Fisher's that connect to Mass and tip them off that they may find their line changes to Fish. I have not worked the Fisher line in Mass but it seems to me that if one is a Fisher with Southern Mass roots odds are it will turn into Fish. If its the Fisher line from Dedham Mass I've followed that one back to a founding Fisher in the mid 1650's. How far back have you got your Fisher line? Best regards, John R. It will give you his parents names. And you can start with the 1930 census and go back from there. I would be more than happy to help. Unfortunately, death certificate lists birthplace as CT; father as 'M.P.Steadman' and Mother Maiden name as 'Scherman'.
