FISCHER Portville Police Chief Dead at 57 PORTVILLE -- Curtis E. FISCHER, chief of police of the Village of Portville, died early this morning, Friday, Jan. 19, 1962, at his home, 16 Whitehouse Road, following a heart seizure. Mr. FISCHER was born March 27, 1904, in Buffalo, a son of the late Charles FISCHER and Maude FULTON FISCHER. He was married to Carolyn YANDA May 31, 1930, in Olean. He had resided here 24 years, operating Fischer's Restaurant, and has been chief of police for 20 years. Mr. FISCHER was a member of Portville Lodge 579 Free and Accepted Masons, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Portville Lodge 779, and the Prince Jonathan Club. Survivors include his widow; a son, CURTIS L. FISCHER, at home; MRS. NORVELL SHIELDS, Eldred, and MRS. CATHRYN KAYES, Portville, and four grandchildren. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Guenther-Morton Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at the funeral home Monday, Jan. 22, 1962 at 2 p.m. The REV. EARL D.
