I am looking for any information about Sterfield MURPHY, or his family or ancestors. All I know about him is that he died in 1873 or 74, and his wife quite possibly died at the same time, leaving at least one orphaned child. I have confilicting information that his wife's name was either A. ELLENDER, or Ella LAYMAN. The child was Rosa (or Rosie or Rosetta) Murphy (also seen as MERPHEY), born in 1871, and she was sent to live with her aunt and uncle Alexander and Samantha FIS(c)HER in Craigsville, IN. I am not sure of the Fisher relationship connection, and can find no documents showing a legal adoption. I would like to know how the Fishers were related to Sterfield, or find any adoption papers.
