His father was possibly Johan / John Fischer. Karl has two brothers: Charles and James, and / or six sisters. He came to America at age 21 and changed the spelling of his name to Carl Fisher. He married Bertha Augusta Garska / Gerske on Jan. 28, 1878 in Portage, Wisconsin. They moved to Nebraska and had the following children: Anna Adalia, Rose Maria, William Anton, Martha Helena, Henry, Carl, Benjamin, Elsie, Frank and Mabel.
