My great-grandfather was Joseph S Fischer. He lived most of his life in the Baltimore/Annapolis area. Listed at the end of this message is the information that I have on him. I also found the census record (1880) that you reference - however the name was spelled Fisher (and yes it lists Veromona). Even though the name is spelled Fisher rather than Fischer, I think the census record references my great-grandfather because: - Joseph's birth year and middle initial are accurate. - his mother's name is Susan. - the baptism record for his son references the godfather for the child as Bernard (I thought this was perhaps a brother that was not identified in Joseph's obituary). - Teresa Newell, of Millersville and Miss Selicia Fischer of Baltimore were listed as two of Joseph's sisters (in his obituary). The 1880 census record shows a Theresia and a Cecilia as Joseph's sister (a fairly close match given that these are census records). I have only recently began documenting my family tree. Joseph S1 Fischer was born February 1878, and died November 20, 1948 in John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He married Mary Appolonia Schmidt, daughter of John Schmidt and Dorothy Toepner (sp). She was born August 26, 1873 in Baltimore, Maryland, and died January 04, 1950. Parents were believed to be from Bavaria (no one is sure however). Mary A. Fischer died Jan. 4, l950 Age of 76 years 4 mo. ll days; Joseph S. Fischer died Nov 20, l948 age 70 yrs. 9 mo. They lived in Baltimore until l9l3 as I have a picture of the family in the grocery store then owned. Joseph Fischers sister's as listed in his obituary were Teresa Newell, of Millersville, Miss Selicia Fischer, Mrs. Mary Ford, Mrs. Barbara Slocum and Mrs. Margaret Homer of Baltimore.
