Fischer's death certificate or find her in Cathedral Cemetery. They didn't even find a Veronica in the right time period. I did find out that on the Frederick's daughters, Barbara, who married a Slacum is there with her husband and children. She lived a long life and outlived her children. It was a daughter-in-law who was responsible for her burial. Her daughter never married and didn't have children. I am trying to find out if the son had children. The cemetery doesn't have any other contact name except the daughter-in-law who by all odds is not alive now. I went by their stone to see if there were flowers on it and there was not. I am really puzzled by the flowers the Fischer grave. I have a picture of Veronica S. Fischer, mother of Frederick. The picture was taken in Philadelphia at Snyder on Columbia Ave. It looks pre-1900. She was 60 in 1880. I figure that there must be a familial connection in Philly. Another son? or daughter? Any Fischer's of Philadelphia out there?

He was married in Eden New York to a woman by the name of Mary Louise Schneider. They were married on January11, 1848. By 1861, they were in Niagara Falls Ontario, Canada, where they resided until at least 1881, after which I have been unable to find any trace of any of them. There were 6 children, the oldest of which is Ernst, my grgrandfather.

They next appear on the Ontario Canada 1861 census with 2 children, residing in Chippawa, Ontario. The oldest of these children is Ernst, my great grandfather. The Frederick Fischers resided in Ontario until at least 1881, and subsequently had 6 children-Ernst, Frederick, Rudolph, Mary, Albert, and Sophia. From that date on, I have been unable to find any trace of them. I feel that they may have moved back to New York State, but I have no proof of this. If anyone has any information, regarding either the Fischer or the Schneider family connection, I would love to hear from you.

There was a Wanderbuch or a pass book for sale today on Eday which journeyman and apprentices used when they travelled from one master to another to learn their trade. They contain a great deal of information about the person and are to say the least a wonderful family treasure. Here is the information I was able to ascertain from ebay auction item as it was posted: Johan Michael Fischer born June 10, 1851 from Grossaspach, district of Backnang, in Wurtemburg. Obviously, he came to America at some time. Hope this posting today will help some future Fischer genealogist make the connection back to Germany. All my best, Bob Behnen Kirksville, Missouri
