He had brothers Charles and James but I do not have any info on them. They possibly had six sisters. Their father's name was Johann / John and he was a baker. Karl Fischer came to the US at age 21 and changed the spelling of his name to Carl Fisher. He married Bertha Garska in Portage, Wisconsin on Jan. 28, 1878. They had the following children: Anna Adalia, Rose Maria, William Anton, Martha Helena, Henry, Carl, Benjamin, Elsie, Frank and Mabel. Carl was killed when his wagon overturned on him in a creekbed south of Rushville, Nebraska in 1903. Do you think this could be your Charles Fischer?

They seem to have come from Ohio. All I have is a list of names of my grandfathers brothers and sisters. No dates... To be honest.... I'm not even sure that the spelling wasn't changed on me... Very frustrating. Apparently, my grandfather didn't get along to well with his family, which is why he moved to New Jersey. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it! Her first marriage was to a Griggs. She was born in 1850 in Ripley, WV. Family lore has it that she married George Griggs in order to move west with her sister and brother-in-law, that she had two children from her first marriage, that her first husband died in Colorado and she met Byron while working as a cook at a logging camp. Family lore states that Annie Griggs (daughter of Elizabeth and her first husband) married a Tingley and had a daughter Pearl who possibly lived in Rhode Island. I found her and Byron in the 1880 Federal Census with 3 children from her first marriage (George F age 13, John McC age 12, and Eliza A age 8) and two children from her second marriage. In the 1870 Federal Census, I found a Solomon Griggs age 32 (blacksmith born in PA) with an Elizabeth age 18 (born in Indiana) and George age 3 and John age 2. Both children are listed as born in Colorado. The census is for Denver, Arapahoe County, Colorado Territory. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Betsy (Lowell) Damon mikmaq3197@yahoo.com
