    1. David Gottlob Fischer- Lauffen, Wuerttemberg to Heilbronn to USA
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YaW.2ACIB/1015 Message Board Post: I am trying to locate where the family of my grgrgrgrandfather settled upon arrival in the US and where he later died. David Gottlob Fischer (1818- approx 1861) married Sibylla Wilhelmine Gimmi (1813 - ?) in Heilbronn Germany in 1845. In 1847 they had a son Gustav Adolf followed by another, Friedrich Robert Fischer in 1849. Wilhelmine and the two boys came to the US in 1851. David Gottlob was already in the States and I believe his profession was that of a cooper.. They had a daughter, Wilhelmine Jacobine Luise in 1852. In about 1855 Wilhelmine returns to Heilbronn and has their last child Johann Ludwig. David Ludwig dies in the US in approx. 1861. His wife remarries Michael Baierbach in Germany in 1862. At least one of his children returns to the US: Johann Ludwig is listed in the 1880 census as a tailor in NYC. In 1882 he married Maria Kissell. In 1883 a daughter is born, Charlotte (my great grandmother). Supposedly he dies in a train accident. Has anyone run across the name of David Gottlob Fischer??? I can trace them back very far in Germany but can't figure out where they were when in ! the US. Any help appreciated.

I didn't see them in my Fischer reports I have posted. Numbers are used to either indentify a person or a generation. The + in front of a number means more generations for that person. No + means no children known. Does that help? Jane

I do have a question though... I'm just learning to read genealogy reports, but can you explain to me why some people have a little number next to their middle name/initial and what that means? Personally, I prefer the good old days when I was in school and stuck everyone's name on a picture of a tree. :)

While we live in Red Lion, PA, we are both from Baltimore. Lots of Chip's cousins (and yours) still live in Baltimore too. Chip's uncle Bernard A. Appel (named for Bernard A. Fischer, his grandfather) remembers going down to visit some Fischer's in Millersville area. And he remembers Cecilia Fischer too. She is one of Bernard and Joseph's sisters. She is also the one that he and his brother, William Joseph Appel, remember as having some type of mental def\iciency. She lived with her parents until they died and then with a sister until she, herself, died. On the census, it never indicates that she ever worked. Chip and I visited Joseph's grave in Millersville. Do you know any of Joseph's and Bernard's sisters descendents?

I grew up in Annapolis, MD on the Fischer Farm. My house is on one side of the farm, and on the other side of the farm is the house that Bernard Joseph Fischer and Stella Martha Kostkowski lived in and raised their children. I believe that Joseph Stanislaus Fischer and Mary Appolonia Schmidt lived there after they moved from Baltimore. Joseph E. Fischer (Buddy) and his wife Margaret currently reside in that house with their daughter Carolyn Marie. Prior to Stella's death, they lived in the 1/2 of the house and Stella lived in the other 1/2. As for the house I grew up in, my sister Brenda is currently living there with her fiance. At some point she is going to build a house on the farm and my fiance and I will sell our condo and move into the house permanently.

I have other pictures of people that Chip swears are Fischers but not sure who they are. Chip is the keeper of all the stories in his line. He had no sisters so it passed all to him. His great-grandmother Fischer was still alive and we have a picture of him with her. I also have pictures of the Fischer siblings, Bernard A. Fischer's children. Their mother was Sarah Jane Franz Fischer. They were very close. Especially the girls. In fact the girls are all buried together with their spouses. Chip use to watch his grandmother's cooking and ask questions. He never wrote things down but remembers it all....all from when he was only 7 years old. I kind of trust that he knows the pictures of the unknowns are Fischers. The other pictures have the people's names on them. Thank you Mary Appel and Mary T Fischer Appel for noting on the back who each was. I will get the pictures together and send them to you by email. I have them scan but they are on a CD right now. Did you say where you live. Is it Maryland??

I was not the one to place the flowers on Frederick Fischer and Susan Rohr's graves as I did not even know about Susan until yesterday, and now that you say Frederick was her husband things make a little more sense. It at least explains where my father's name came from. :) I will have to go back and read your original post now since the lines make more sense. My great grandparents were also Joseph S Fischer and Mary Appolonia Schmidt. My grandmother was their daughter Lona (Appolonia) Townsend. I haven't worked on my family tree in quite a while (work has been very demanding for the past several months. I'm so happy to find you! I have talked to Joseph "Buddy" Fischer's wife (must be more than a year ago now). I'll try to pull together the information that I have collected. Seems like I had a couple of other contacts that provided some very good info on our family. Perhaps your posting will get me focused on my family tree again. I sure do enjoy working on it. Later, Steve Townsend

Fischer and Mary Appolonia Schmidt were my great grandparents. My father was Frederick C. Fischer, son of Bernard Joseph Fischer and Stella Kostkowski. I would love to be in contact with anyone pursuing the Fischer line as I have just started trying to make sense of my family tree.
