I'm told the Fink family I am researching is from Germany. I am doing the research for my step daughter. Albert and Rudolf Fink came to the US around 1820. Albert became an engineer and worked for many railroads across the country. He designed railroad bridges. There is only one example of his work left. It is in Zoarville OH. I don't have any information about Rudolf. My stepdaughter's father tells me he is descended from Albert. There is one peculiarity that makes this family easy to search. All the boys in both lines were named Albert or Rudolf without a middle name. My stepdaughter's g-grandfather, Albert Fink, was one of Al Capone's lawyers during his tax evasion trial in San Francisco. Before that he plied his lawyer trade in Alaska. He was born in The Philippines. He married Laura Meigs. Their son Rudolf Fink was born 24 Jan 1905 in Nome Alaska and died 21 Aug 1980 in Biloxi MS. He married Martha Hickam, daughter of Horace Hickam and Helen Bamber. Horace was commanding officer of a training squadron in Galveston TX. On 5 Nov 1934, while landing his airplane, he flew through smoke coming from a factory and ran into a power line. They had just opened a new airbase at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, so they named it in his honor. All I could get out of my stepdaughter's family is some of the names.
