Seeking any and all info on family of Sister Mary Angela Fink, V.H.M. a Catholic nun of the Visitation Order. She was b. ca. 1859 and attended Mount de Sales Academy, Catonsville, MD. She was 21 in 1880 when she entered the novitiate at Mount de Sales, which had an adjacent Monastery for the nuns who taught at the Academy. She d. there 26 Aug 1938. Sister M. Angela was born as Mary Joseph Fink to Joseph Fink and Rosa M. Hand. Contact: Dick Randt Ellicott City, MD E-mail: rcrandt@prodigy.net
Seeking any and all info on family of Aimee Fink. She was a student at Mount de Sales Academy, Catonsville, MD, in the late 1880s. She probably graduated ca. 1885. She was active in the Alumnae Association, its Recording Secretary in 1902. The 1880 census (of the Academy staff and student body - it was a boarding school then) shows Aimee Fink with her mother being from MD and her father from PA. If it's the same Aimee Fink, the school still has an oil painting (quite well done - of St. Francis de Sales) signed "Aimee Fink 1915." Would love dearly to know more about the artist and the student and possibly tie them together. Info going into the 150th Anniversary History of the academy currently being compiled. Hi....My great grandfather was William Fink I.He was German.I just got a copy of the ships passenger list on which he came to the U.S.He came from Grunau and his final destination was Middletown,Ohio. He arrived on February 14th,1910 and was 17 years old.The strange part is that he changed his name. His name was Wilhelm Faukindini. When he got his naturalization cerificate he changed his name to William Fink.I have never heard the name Faukindini before and can't seem to find any other information on it.The only places I have seen it were on the back of his naturalization certificate and on the ships passenger list. He finally settled in Chicago,IL, married and had 2 children. He lived there until he died in the 1980's.He had several siblings. One of his brothers, Otto Fink came to the US and lived in Chicago too until he committed suicide when he was in his 20's.I know of 4 sisters too. They were Anna Bunchak and Ilka Bergmann(both lived in Germany),Catalina Habsuda (lived in Argentina) and Elma (lived in Chicago).Has anyone else come across this name or see a connection? Sorry if this all sounds confusing.Just trying to write everything at once....lol.Thanks! Britt Kalter
Glad to have you as a listowner, Gene. I recently posted a message about my gggrandfather, Jacob Fink, who was born about 1829. I've seen his birthplace listed as Bavaria, as Wurtemmberg, and as Switzerland, so I don't know exactly where he was born. I saw other postings that showed Wurtemmberg and Switzerland as places of origin. I'm quite new in looking into my Fink ancestors (I very early hit a roadblock and went on to easier lines), so I am wondering - Is the southern German and Swiss area the most common place of Fink origin? Looking through the Wurtemmberg Passenger Lists, I saw a number of Finks. --John
Hello, My name is Gene Phillips and I have just been officially notified that I am now the listowner of the FINK list. I'm easy to get along with. I have made only one change. That is to prepend the subject line with [FINK]. I subscribe to lots of lists and this makes it easier to keep track of what is what, especially if you are using an online mail systems such as hotmail or yahoo. There are 21 of us on the list at the present time. That should generate a bit of message traffic. But do try to keep the subject to genealogy or history. I think I speak for most of us when I say I get enough jokes sent my way during the day. There are hundreds of joke lists to subscribe to. I myself used to subscribe to 45, but I have got over that addiction. Have a nice day and let's get a genealogy discussion started. Gene

I volunteered for the job as well as the GenConnect boards. The query board does have a manager but the other boards don't. I will be describing them in a later message. My Finks have one distinguishing characteristic. All of the males are named Rudolph or Albert. This has been the custom since brothers Rudolph and Albert Fink came to the US from Germany before 1850. One Albert Fink of note was a railroad engineer in the 1850's. He designed what is known as the Fink Truss Bridge. The last remaining one is on the National Register of Historical Places. It is located in Zoarville OH. Another Albert Fink was a lawyer in Alaska. His claim to fame is that he formalized the rules for the sport of dogsled racing. There are only 2 Alberts and 2 Rudolphs left of this line. as far as I can determine. They didn't tend to have to many children. Another first is my older step-daughter is the first female born in 3 generations. I am working on the Fink genealogy for my step-daughter. Her father is Albert Fink and his son is Albert Thomas-Breakwell Fink. Albert's brother is Rudolph and his son is also Rudolph. Albert the younger is the first one to have a middle name. So my monumental task is to sort out all of these Rudolph's and Alberts. Another interesting Albert Fink the one who as a supervisor of detectives for several different railroads, oversaw a team of operatives who were paid to go undercover and spy and inform on railway workers. These operatives were dubbed finks. I'm sure he was related to the railroad engineer in some way but don't have the connection. My step-daughter is descended from the immigrant Rudolph. Gene Phillips
My Finks came over from Germany. Three brothers, August, George and Andrew landed in New Orleans in 1845. From there they setteled in Franklin Co. Missouri. Vicky

Hi, I am posting my family again. I noticed that someone just mentioned that their Fink's possibly came from Wurtemmberg, I believe my Fink's did too. Christopher Fink married Margaretha, they had at least two children Charles and Louisa/Louise. Louisa was born in 1844, Germany. She married Gottlieb Asimus and migrated to America in 1880. They settled in the Cincinatti, Ohio area. Thank you, Robyn Asimus

Hi, I am new to the list and I am looking for any information regarding Louise Fink and her brother Charles Fink. They were probably born in Germany and settled in the Cincinatti/ Kenton County, Kentucky area. Louise married Gotlieb Asimus about 1865-1870 and had three sons, Rudolph, Theodore and Eugene. She died on February 14, 1898 in Kenton County, Kentucky. Charles was still alive at that time. Is anyone else researching this family. Robyn Asimus
