    1. [FINK] Greenbrier Co. (W)Va Finks
    2. Fallsburg Clarks
    3. Posting what I know about my Greenbrier Co. Finks: Ann Elizabeth Fink b. 1842 married Henry Andrew Persinger b. 1838, had children John Lewis 1859, Newman Lee April 1862 (my great grandfather), James Preston 1871, Adia Bell 1872, George William 1878, and Henry's half brother Franklin lived with them in 1880. In 1850 Jonathan Fink age 43 must have had a previous wife as sons James H. and John L are both age 17; wife Sarah (?) is 36. Her children must be Ann E. age 8 and Rebecca J. age 5. I also find in 1850 Gasper Fink and Catherine (?) Fink both age 70, living with Elijah, 38 and Nancy (?) Fink 38 and their children James V. age 5, Chs (Charles?) W. 2 and Mary, 8/12. There is also an Andrew Fink 29, wife Ruthy (?) 23 and children William 4 and John L. 1. At this point, my theory is that Gaspar is the father of Jonathan, Elijah and Andrew, but have proof of nothing! If anyone is researching Finks in Greenbrier, I would be most grateful for their help! Carolyn (Anderson) Clark in central Ohio Ages calculated from census may not be exact. MY SURNAMES Virginia/West Virginia: Anderson, Clark, Davis, Elliott, Flack, Knisely, Hedrick, Tuckwiller, Zickafoose, Dunlap, Curtis, Claypool, Sherman, Coffinberry, many are Greenbrier Co. Maryland: Baughman, Flenner, Westlake. Pennsylvania: Billman, Hoadley, Coe. Brick Walls: Kerns (Pike Co. OH), Ravenscroft (Ross Co. OH), Parker (Licking Co. OH), Hoadley and Coe (Crawford Co. OH). Descendants of all these ended up in Ohio

Marion M Steinberg (24 Dec 1912 - 16 Oct 1981) dau of Louis Steinberg (? - 1943) & Esther Passer Other Children Mark Phillips All 4 of the g-grand parents on the mother's side are Jews born in Eastern Europe, immigrating to the US around the turn of the 20th century. The Fink information is very sparse. I have found more through research than I was able to get from family members. The first Finks of this line were 3 German brothers, Albert, Rudolf and Heinrich. They were born in the 1820s and immigrated to the USA. Heinrich returned to Germany. Albert was an Railroad Engineer and designed railroad bridges of a particular type in the 1850s. The last remaining example of his work is the Fink Overhead Truss Bridge in Zoarville OH. The two brother's started a peculiar family custom. They only named their sons Albert or Rudolf, no middle names. I have found several famous Alberts but don't know if they are related. One is Albert Fink, railroad detective. He sent spies into the Union camp. These spies told management of the doings of the Unions. These spies came to be known as Finks, and the term passed into popular slang for a tattle-tale. Another famous Albert Fink that I have found was a lawyer in the Alaska Territory. He set up the formal rules of dog-sled racing. All of these famous Alberts around and I'm told ours are descended from Rudolf. BTW, you may have noticed that the children's mother has a maiden name of Phillips. We are not related. I'm from solid Scotch-Irish Roots and she is of course 100% Jewish. Her Grandfather Phillips' name was Anglicized when he came in the country from Latvia. Gene Phillips
