My 3rd great grandmother was Jane Findley, born about 1835. She was married in Cherokee County, GA about 1848, to Stephen Spurlin. I was wondering if you had any info on her, as I can't seem to find much of anything to go on! Thank you so much! Author: Talkive1 Surnames: Findley / Neatherly Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.findley/543/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have hit a dead end on a branch of a tree. I have not been able to find any information on Urse William Findley born about 1850 in Arkansas. He married a Frances Darling Netherly who was born around 1854 in Tennessee. The last census shows them living on Indian Territory in Arkansas. I have searched all census from the first one from after they were born all the way up to the 1940 and it's like they never exisited except in 1880 and 1900. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: georgiadog Surnames: Findley Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.findley/262.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I almost hate to say this, but I believe we are talking about 2 different John Findley's. "Mine" is John F Findley - yours is John W Findley. I have repeatedly seen one piece of documentation posted by/linked to multiple folks here on Ancestry *incorrectly* using it to say that "my" John F Findley filed an application (sometime in the mid 1830's as best I can recall,) for what amounted to veterans benefits from his service in the American Revolution. But I've got copies of legal documents that prove John F died in 1825. I can't help but wonder if this John really "belongs" to you. (I've never seen any evidence showing what this John's middle initial/name was, but I KNOW this isn't "my" John.) If I can find the link to it again, I'll be happy to send it to you via pvt msg. Oh, by the way - I came across something else that I believe DOES belong to "your" John W Findley. Here's the link: http://search.ancestry.com/iexec?htx=View&r=an&dbid=2204&iid=32596_242181-00236&fn=John&ln=Findley&st=r&ssrc=pt_t1095399_p-1998618635_kpidz0q3d-1998618635z0q26pgz0q3d32787z0q26pgplz0q3dpid&pid=391017 This link is to an application made by a gentleman applying for membership in the Sons of The American Revolution. He lists ancestor names that appear to match up with what you listed below - John W, Wm O, John & Wm. It even lists DOB for John W & his father, which will hopefully match up with info you already have. It even lists a Wm that came from across the pond, & tells what county in Ireland he was from. Sounds like your John & Wm, now doesn't it?? :) This document has also been *incorrectly* linked to "my" John F multiple times. I hope it can end up help you. Please feel free to send me a pvt msg via ancestry if you think I might have any other info that might fit with your kinfolk. Perhaps we might end up being able to help each other. Mary :) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. If you would like to reply to them, please click on the Message Board URL link above and respond on the board.

Then going up: John W father as William O William's father, John John's father, William William O is the one who crossed the pond from Antrim, Northern Ireland????? Did I read that John served in the Revolutionary War? Going up is what I am not sure of so any help you can give me. Thank you so much.... Ours wasn't and because of that his father put on Wood's headstone that he was murdered. My email is cm2texas@windstream.net if you want to contact me. Thanks for your time !!
