    3. Hello Listers: Any concerns/questions, please contact: FIJI-admin@rootsweb.com. To subscribe/unsubscribe: FIJI-request@rootsweb.com. To subscribe in Digest mode: FIJI-D-request@rootsweb.com. To send a message/post to the List: FIJI@rootsweb.com. >>>>>> FYI Only <<<<<< Mode = manner/method/way. There are two modes in which to subscribe: 1. The -L mode; the "regular" mode now. All regular subscribers receive posts/messages made to the list as separate/individual emails. 2. The -D mode; the "digest" mode now. All digest subscribers receive posts/messages made to the list as one BIG email. If you previously subscribed to the list in both -L and -D modes using the same email address, you will find that you are *no longer* subscribed in Digest mode. The new software doesn't permit the same address to be subscribed in both -L and -D modes. Therefore, if you wish to receive both modes, you will need to subscribe to the Digest using a different email address. Please give me a contact should anyone need further elaboration. 3. HO-HO-HO! Listers: Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! --Manaia ++++ Forwarded from another list. Just in case anyone has not seen this old nightmare: "Two men met at a bus stop and struck up a conversation. One of them kept complaining of family problems. Finally, the other man said: "You think you have family problems? Listen to my situation." "A few years ago I met a young widow with a grown-up daughter. We got married and got myself a stepdaughter. Later, my father married my stepdaughter. That made my stepdaughter, my step-mother. And my father became my stepson. Also, my wife became mother-in-law of her father-in-law." "Much later the daughter of my wife, my stepmother, had a son. This boy was my half-brother because he was my father's son. But he was also the son of my wife's daughter which made him my wife's grand-son. That made me the grand-father of my half-brother. This was nothing until my wife and I had a son. Now the half-sister of my son, my stepmother, is also the Grandmother. This makes my father, the brother-in-law of my child, whose stepsister is my father's wife, I am my stepmother's brother-in-law, my wife is her own child's aunt, my son is my father's nephew & I am my OWN GRANDFATHER! "And you think you have FAMILY PROBLEMS!"

    3. November 17, 2008 Online Genealogy Dictionaries and Lists I have been collecting URLs (Web addresses) of various online dictionaries and lists that are useful to genealogists. These are useful when trying to decode foreign or obsolete words often found in genealogy work. 2. M Robinson
    3. Hello Robert, You query is very interesting as our family has asociations with both Fiji and Flinders Island. Whereabouts on Flinders Island was Koronivia, and when was your family there? Our folks had a farm in the north, from about 1912-26, while the other half of the family were at Korovou farming. I have recently read through many issues of the Fiji Times 1919-1921 at the National Library in Canberra looking for clues. I don't know if the holdings go back as far as 1880. M Robinson.

    2. Robert
    3. Hi All Help sought There is a family story that a William Hay Ferguson was present when a boiler at a sugar mill exploded---this probably in the mid 1880's It is thought that the mill was that of the Rewa Sugar Company at Koronivia Can anyone assist in suggesting where I may find archive material of this company and or this particular event The father of William Hay Ferguson had a property on Flinders Island Tasmania, which he named Koronivia---hence the positive association with that name Any and all info graciously accepted Robert From the Roaring Forties PS I have tried the EMail address of the Fiji Times but the Emaill address I used appears to be incorrect--do they hold archive material?

All regular subscribers receive posts/messages made to the list as separate/individual emails. 2. The -D mode. The "digest" mode now. All digest subscribers receive posts/messages made to the list as one BIG email. .... If you previously subscribed to the list in both -L and -D modes using the same email address you will find that you are *no longer* subscribed in Digest mode. The new software doesn't permit the same address to be subscribed in both -L and -D modes. Therefore, if you wish to receive both modes, you will need to subscribe to the Digest using a different email address. Please give me a contact should anyone need further elaboration - grin. ....
