Hi Elizabeth, I live in Lane Co. (Elmira) Eugene area, Oregon. If there is anything I can help with in this area, please let me know. I'm researching Field, without the "s". Jack D. Mary Kay: My FIELDS came out of KY circa 1814 and settled mostly in Ray Co., MO, some settled in Daviess Co., MO. Circa 1847-1850 they began leaving MO taking the Oregon Trial to OR where they settled in mostly Linn Co., some settled in Lane Co., OR. At least two of the FIELDS sons remained permanently in Ray/Davies Co., MO. While I have located a couple of descendants, there are several yet to be accounted for. At this point, I do not have a connection to your line. I am only in the 1850s on these FIELDS - whether some left MO and went to OH and elsewhere, I simply don't know. Will keep you message on file and in the event I come across your people, will get back to you. Liz Freeman In Oklahoma! > You mentioned your Fields were from Missouri as were mine. Thank you for the welcome to the list. Though I have been researching all of my and my husband's trees for over 30 years, I am new to the internet. I have a brickwall in my tree. Seems my grandfather had two Mothers. He was born in Brant County, Ontario in 1862, and his mother is listed in some records as being FANNIE FIELD or FIELDS. In others as FANNIE BROUGHTON. Since the only marriage listed for my gr.grandfather [JOB FRANKLIN] is to FIELD, I am following that. Anybody following the Canada FIELDS?
To Elizabeth Freeman <[email protected]>: You mentioned your Fields were from Missouri as were mine. So I'm sending this in case anything connects. Orin Ward was the grandfather of my deceased husband, Darwin L. Ward. Orin (aka Ora) Ward born 1872 in Eau Claire, Wis. married in Springfield, Greene Co, Missouri, on 25 October 1890 Elizabeth FIELDS who had been born 24 Oct 1871 in Ironton, Lawrence Co.,Ohio. Her parents were William "Russell" FIELDS born abt. 1848 in Wisconsin and Mary Delawder born abt 1848 in Ironton, Ohio . William "Russell" and Mary Delawder FIELDS moved from Ironton, Ohio to Springfield, Greene County,Missouri with Elizabeth (and prob. at least two other daughters and a son) -their family in 1886. At that time their daughter, Elizabeth (my husband's grandmother) was about 15 years old. I don't know the names or ages of Elizabeth's 2 sisters and brother. I yet to find the William Russell Fields family on the 1880 census family in Ironton City, Lawrence Co., Ohio --which would have been 6 years before "Russell" moved the family to Springfield, Missouri. Four years after moving to Missouri, when she was about 19 years old, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Fields married Ora (Orin) W. Ward in Missouri (prob. Springfield) in 1890. Their first three children were born in Missouri (prob. Springfield) They were Donald Duane Ward b. abt 1891, Walter Ward b. abt. 1894 and James "Earl" Ward b. about 1897. Elizabeth FIELDS and Orin with their children moved from Missouri to the Brookings, South Dakota area in the early 1900's. But her father, Russell and mother Mary FIELDS and at least 3 of Elizabeth's siblings (2 sisters and a brother) remained in Springfield, Missouri. When Elizabeth "Lizzie" FIELDS Ward died 13 Dec 1928 in Brookings, South Dakota, at age 57, her obituary listed among the family surviving her --in Springfield, Missouri two sisters and one brother. Her mother, Mary Delawder Fields died in Springfield and probably Wm "Russell" Fields did too. I have not yet found the country of origin of these FIELDS nor when / IF others left Ironton, Lawrence Co., Ohio or Springfield, Greene Co., Missouri! If any of your FIELDS lived in the Springfield, Greene County, Missouri area during the years 1886 thru 1928 (and after), we might find a connection. With love and Peace! Looking for information on William Fields b. ca. 1813 in GA. Found in Pike County, Georgia on 1840 and 1850 census. Married Sarah Elizabeth Mayo. Children were Mary A. Fields (b. ca. 1835), Thomas J. Fields (b. 1837) and James J. Fields (b. 1848) and possibly Henry J. Fields (b. ca. 1833). Family moved to Carroll Co., GA sometime after 1850. Loyd Fields [email protected]
Searching for information concerning descendants of Deliah/Darkey/Dorcas FIELDS (born circa 1805 Nicholas Co., KY dd 7-23-1871 Franklin, Lane Co., OR). On 6-24-1823 in Ray Co., MO she married Christopher Taylor. Sometime after the 1850 MO Census taken on 9-20-1850 they took the Oregon Trail to OR. They appear on the 1860 and 1870 Lane Co., OR Census. Deliah and Christopher ahd twelve children (some born in MO, some in IL, some in IA) Deliah was the second child of Ebenezer FIELDS (born circa 1770-75) and the oldest living child (the first child died before 1846 in MO). Since her mother (Sarah Roxanne Burden Fields Macy) went to OR also at the same time as Deliah and they lived in the same area , perhaps some of Deliah's descendants can shed some light on the ancestry of Ebenezer and Sarah Fields.
My great grandmother, Netti Viola Fields, was daughter of Christopher Columbus Fields (son of Levi Fields) and Caroline Riggin. She was born in Wicomico County, MD. She had the following known siblings: Charles, Ida, Pearl, James. Does anyone have information on these Fields?

Brent artcile, do you think this could be him below. All these brothers were left land in Kentucky. Henry Field, Jr., will dated Nov. 7, 1735: will probated Culpeper county, Virginia, Oct. 15, 1787. Sons, Daniel and Henry W. S.; daughters,-Nancy Delaney, Molly and Sarah; sons George; wife, Mary Field; sons: Joseph, George, Thomas and John. He d. October, 1785. Res. Looking for any information on Lawrence Fields m. Pauline Ruth Plummer 11/6/1916. I found them in the 1920 Hendricks Co.,IN census. Lived in Plainfield, IN at that time. Evidently all their kids were split up among many relatives and the family knows little about either of them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Johnette Hodgin [email protected]
Helen: I can't help you identify this bunch of FIELDS. However Brad Aumick at <[email protected]> might be able to help explain some of this. He is working on the Levi FIELDS in Ray Co., MO. Does anyone know who the FIELDS men were who appeared throughout Ray Co. MO Circuit Court regarding one case 1833-1835? The father of the minor boys who got into trouble was a Benjamin FIELDS, who must have been related in some way to all the other Fields men who posted bonds. But how? Here's the story: 1821 - Benjamin Fields on 1821 assessor's list for Ray Co., MO. 1830 - Benjamin on Ray Co., MO, census age 50-60 (est birth 1770-1780) 1833 - At February Court, Ray Co. per Circuit Court Records. A William F. BROWN and an Isaac and Levi Fields, minor sons of Benjamin Fields, were taken into custody by the sheriff. (What they did was not reported.) Benjamin Fields, a Thomas Fields, and a John Fields each put up security (posted bonds) for Benjamin's minor sons Isaac and Levi. No mention this time who, if any, posted bond for William F. Brown, who appeared to be an adult. This case dragged on thru Ray Co. Circuit Court Records over a year, into 1834, mostly with who was posting bond for these two boys. The names of men who posted bonds were Benjamin Fields (the father), Thomas Fields, John Fields, Joseph Fields, William Fields, and Isaac Fields, SR. The bonds per boy were $100, not a paltry sum in those days to guaranty that the boy would not skip town. So -- these Fields men must be related in some way to the boys and the other men. But how? Eventually, the two minor boys Levi and Isaac were released and their case dropped. But the case against William F. Brown (apparently an adult) got more serious. Brown was accused of larceny against the state. (Never did explain what he did.) His bond grew to $200. These Fields men must have been relatives or darn good friends of Brown, because they kept posting bond for him. They were: Thomas Riggs and William Fields, then John Fields and Joseph Fields, then a John Fields JR. and a Joseph Fields. In October 1833 William F. Brown defaulted and failed to appear at his court date; two Fields men who had posted his most recent bond had to pay the court $100 each! These men were John Fields JR. and Joseph Fields. Well, the sheriff must have rounded up William F. Brown because he was back in court in 1834. This time the sureties to post bond were Thomas Fields, Benjamin Fields, Thomas Wilkinson and Bramich Wilkinson. The William F. Brown case ended. He was guilty. Hopefully, someone on this FIELDS list can help identify who all these different FIELDS men were who lived in Ray Co. MO and how related to one another. The only relationships discovered from the above was the Benjamin FIELDS had 2 sons Isaac and Levi who were minors in 1833 ... and that there was an Isaac Fields, Sr., living in Ray Co. that was not the father of the young Isaac. To complicate this FIELDS nest in Ray Co., there was a Levi Fields, SR., who was not the father of the young Levi in court. Levi Fields SR. was about the only Fields man living in Ray Co. in 1833 who didn't post bond at all. Any help identifying these men would be appreciated. -- Helen Graves
I want to thank Ronnie Fields for posting Henry's will. It must be serendipity. I've been rooting around in my FIELDS files for 2 days looking for it! Does anyone have any info on Henry's son THOMAS FIELDS named in the will? Where did he live/die? Wife? Children? Did this Thomas live around Bourbon Co., KY, 1798-1800, and then move on? Die there? Any news would be appreciated. -- Helen Graves
