    1. [FIELDS-L] Indian Fields
    2. Jim Welsh
    3. Hi Fields list, I was in Tahlequah yesterday looking up information on my Fields ancestors, and made a point to copy all the Fields off the 1896 Indian Census for the Delaware District, since that was were I was looking. All it primarily does is list people who were Indian in this district (which was Cherokee) as well in some cases of white spouses and white adoptees. There was no one to really explain all this, but I think the numbers to the left are page numbers. The only other thing it lists is the age and sex of the people, and sometimes the place of birth. The CN may indicate Canadian District or Connecticut--in one place it said Choctaw Nation but not in all cases. This information was in the genealogy reading room in the Northeastern State University library. Dorothy D. Welsh 1896 INDIAN CENSUS, DELEWARE DISTRICT 56 Fields, Ezekiel 54 b. 1. [FIELDS-L] Support for Listowner Message
    2. Fields List Subscribers - Although I could be considered somewhat of an intruder since my lineage is in the surname Field rather than Fields, I'm impressed with those of the Fields surname, particularly our list owner/manager, Randall Fields. I presently subscribe to about 27 Rootsweb discussion lists and Randall is only the third out of all of these to openly solicit financial support for Rootsweb. Randall, I thank you! When less than 95% of the users of Rootsweb services support the cooperative financially I do think that list owner/subscribers need to lead the charge for support. Just because there is no charge for the services, this does not mean there is no cost. I have no connection with Rootsweb except being a very grateful subscriber to lists. I pose a challenge for the Fields Family Discussion list. Let us be the first discussion list with 100% of subscribers financially supporting Rootsweb. How about it. 2. I am forwarding this message to the list. Please reply to the address below or directly to the list if you have information. I have just begun looking for information about my great-grandfather, John T. (possibly Terrell) Fields. I do not have a date of birth or date of death, he was born in South Carolina. John T. Fields married Lucy Susan Jennings, born 9/17/1845, in Richmond, Va. She died 1/22/1927 and is buried in Caruthersville, Missouri. John and Lucy Fields had three children: 1. Linnie Mae Fields, born 5/8/1878, (married Don Holman, a Methodist minister). 2. Julia Ann Fields (married a man named Taylor). 3. Carroll Doyle Fields, my grandfather, born 2/9/1880, in Gayoso, Missouri. He was a merchant. He died 6/9/1945, and was buried in Caruthersville, Missouri. Any help would be appreciated. -------------------- Please reply to [email protected] (Billie Stovall)

    1. Re: [FIELDS-L] Fields twins
    2. Colleen Earls
    3. Hi Mary, I wrote Betty yesterday, and in hindsight I'm wondering if I should have copied the list... My Fields hail from IL (to the point that I have them researched anyway) and also have incidences of twins. My grandfather's sister had 2 sets of twins! I see a couple of common names in your listing, so am wondering if we can help each other... Here's my info: Edmund Fields b. 2/19/1830 IL d. 10/9/1903 CA m. abt 1856 Lucy Ann Brooks b. 11/9/1835 IN d. 4/19/1918 CA Children: 1. William Benton Fields b. 1857 IL 2. Katherine Susanna Fields b. 1859 IL 3. John Wesley Fields b. 1861 IL 4. Ezra Grant Fields b. 1864 Springfield, IL 5. Jonathan Willis Fields b. 1866 IL 6. Cora Ann Fields b. 1869 CA (twin) 7. Frank Dillon Fields b. 1869 CA (twin) 8. Elmer Morgan Fields b. 1872 CA 9. Charles Coward Fields b. 1875 CA 10. Corley Fields b. 1878 CA 11. Harry Martin Fields b. 1880 CA My ggrandfather is #8 above -- his only daughter, Muriel, bore 2 sets of twins. There were no incidences of twins in his other children, both sons. I have recently made contact with a descendant of #4 Ezra Grant Fields who has research compiled by his mother which states that Edmund Fields was actually born in England and came to America as a small boy at which point the 's' was added to the name. There is no source cited for this, though, and this would contradict information, including his death certificate, which states that he was born in IL. This information also indicates that Lucy Ann Brooks is the daughter of William Brooks (PA) and Susannah Winant (PA). Winant is of dutch ancestry so, if this is accurate, it appears she may hail from the Pennsylvania Dutch. I have been unable to find an Edmund Fields in the 1850 or 1860 IL census. Edmund Fields journeyed to California abt 1867 via the Oregon Trail settling initially in Glenn County near Colusa, CA. His wife an! ! d first 5 children joined him there by rail. The family later moved to Santa Barbara County near Lompoc, CA, and were among the first settlers and pioneering agriculturists of that area. 1. [FIELDS-L] Need information and advice
    2. Greetings Field Cousins! I was wondering if anyone out there might happen to know where I could locate the book, "VALLEY OF THE SCOTS" by Malcomb Fowler. If you can advise me PLEASE email me PERSONALLY at [email protected], so as not to clutter up the list and irritate anyone. I am told that one of my ancestors is mentioned in this book. Thanks. Sue

    1. [FIELDS-L] Thomas FIELD
    2. Lesley
    3. Hello fellowlisters This is my first posting to the FIELDS group and I hoping someone can help me with Thomas FIELD a victualler of Holloway, London, England. His daughter Mary Ann FIELD was born in Holloway in 1819. She married Antonio Abbondion BOGGIA at St. Dunstans, Stepney in 1841. At the time of their marriage, Mary Ann was living at 1 Terrace Place, Stepney and although the census was only a few months later, I cannot find Thomas FIELD at this address. (I am assuming she was staying there to qualify to get married at St. Dunstans and the family must have been living elsewhere.) Mary Ann continued the family trade as a widow was a licensed victualler in Mortlake, Surrey, England in the 1881 and 1891 censuses. If anyone get give me any relevant information I would be most grateful. Lesley [email protected]
