I am looking for information regarding a JOSHUA FIELDS, b. about 1771 either in VA or TN, and d. 1822 in Enfield, White Co., IL. I believe Joshua was in Roane Co., TN by 1812. He had a son, Thomas, that married Susanna (Susie) Holly, in Kingston, Roane Co., TN in 1812. I believe the entire family then migrated from TN to White Co., IL by 1815. I am particularly trying to identify Joshua's birthplace and his spouse. Any information would be appreciated, and of course I will be glad to share what I have. Bob Balch [email protected]
I have placed four pages of an article that speaks of F. C. Pierce and his book "Field Genealogy" on my web page. The source of the article is on the bottom of each page. You can see these pages at http://www.pond.net/~hmds/play/index.htm http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/d/a/v/Jack-D-Davis/ These two pages are cross linked. Jack D. Davis
Patience: I would love to have any information on John Wesley Field that you may have in your database. My gg grandfather is John Wesley Field and I don't have much information on him other than the fact he spent some time in Arkansas. Any information is greatly appreciated. Lynda

Hello List: Forgive me for posting non genealogy items to this list. However, I live in the middle of the area which was struck by tornadoes in OK on 5-3-99. Just wanted to let anyone whom I was doing a lookup that my genealogy stuff will be on hold for a while. Del City, OK (where I live) was severely hit; my family was very fortunate in that we did not sustain any damage; some of our friends lost their homes. Also want to thank those who sent messages; your thoughts are greatly appreciated. Liz Freeman In Oklahoma!
I agree with Noel, we can't get mad at eBay, they only list merchandise. I have purchased over twenty-five extremely difficult to find collectible items (nothing from graves, thank you) all for very reasonable prices. I have been searching for a couple of years for one item that I found the first time on-line with eBay. I have found them to be very responsive. I had difficulty once in bidding on an item that was to soon close. I received a very quick solution to my problem. As Noel stated, if you find an objectionable item for sale let eBay know. The real problem is that as long as there are people willing to buy anything, someone will go to what ever trouble is necessary to supply it to make a dollar. Just my two cents, carole
It would seem that e-bay caught the gravestones being auctioned without any of us having to tell them about it. The auctions seem to have been cancelled. Noel
I contacted a member of the Indiana State American Legion officers today, he had just returned from Indianapolis, just a few minutes before I called and said they had gotten a hint on this, but did not know more. He asked me to send him a copy of the letter I rec. on e-mail. He said they were very concerned about something like this. [email protected]
>From what I have seen of e-bays policies, they are very good about responding to sales that people show good cause to not have on there. I think all we need to do, is to let them know (as many of us as possible) the reasons why sales of gravestones is not a good idea. Don't get angry at e-bay, just explain in calm terms why its wrong. And I'm willing to bet we'll see some action taken by e-bay. If that doesn't work, then we can all investigate a different route. First place I would use to send them a note about the above is: http://cgi3.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBoard&name=support That is e-bays main feedback form. Make sure to add the auction numbers that Roberts messages showed also for better detail. Unfortunately I can't seem to get through at the moment to some websites (something is going on this morning) but I will keep working at it until I get through, and I think the more of us that do, will show our commitment against this issue. Hi folks, I have been rereading the Cherokee Tragedy by Thurman Wilkins. I always find something new in it. This time I noticed that Jim Fields was a friend of John Ridge son of The Ridge before the removal in and around the 1830s. And when the Ridge family settled on the border of Arkansas and Missouri on Honey Creek the Fields family were their neighbors. Does anyone know the ancesters or decendents of James Fields? Since I was told of the possibility that Isaac Isaiah Fields wife, Sarah Brown would likely be Nakey Sarah Canoe daughter of Little Dragging Canoe I have been searching for proof she was or was not. In this book is a statement that the Ridge was possibly related to Attakullakulla or "the Little Carpenter" who was the ggrandfather of Nakey Sarah Canoe (If I got that right) (: That would make kind of connect the time period and circumstances that the connections might be correct. It is possible that this James Fields might help make that jump. I have three James Fields but only one at that time period and he might be a little young. Here is what I have: James Fields m Ceilia one son: William Wesley Fields b about 1846. I don't have anything more on James. or Ceilia. On my Fields line I have James H. Fields, brother to John Wesley Fields sons of John Branson Fields, my ggrandfather. John Branson Fields father was Isaac Isaiah Fields. At this point I do not find a connection with the two Fields lines. The Isaac Isaiah Fields line is from Guilford Co., NC., and the first James Fields is from Russell Co., Virginia. Patience

G'day All, I am writing to you on a hopeful quest as I have very limited info to divulge on the FIELD surname. I am trying to trace the Field surname of a woman named Tamar who married John Golding STEVENS who profession was given as a miner in Charters Towers then Croydon in North Queensland. John was reported to be an explorer in our early years and thankfully withdrew from the ill-fated Burke & Wills expedition. Their daughter Emily Alice born c.1882 in Charters Towers married Thomas Herbert Albert KNUST in the Wesleyan Church Croydon Qld. Nov 28 1898 aged 16. Tamar FIELD was born ?Isle of Man in England. Any information greatly accepted and thank you for your interest. Leighann
Hi List, I found a Richard Field who came on the "Safety" from England in 1635. He was 20 years old. I found this in a passenger list book in the Tulsa library. Hope this helps someone. Dorothy Welsh
